Emilio was born in Venlo, son of a spanish father and a dutch mother. Under the spaninsh influence in the home of the Garcia's Emilio, at the age of 12, got a spanish flamenco guitar from his father. After a few years of lessons on the acoustic guitar his interest in electric guitars grew and he started to aim more in this direction.
From age 14 to 17 he played in several local bands, playing all kinds of music styles which made him a versatile musician. At age 17 Emilio joined a popular local band called 'The Trashcats'. It was in this band where he encountered Rockabilly muziek for the first time. Soon this had led to the conclusion that this was the music he was made for. Many performances later and a single: 'Venlo is een leuke stad', Emilio decides to start up his own band to be able to create his own sound and to compose his own songs. In 1988 Emilio forms the (in the meantime famous) Rock..n..Roll/Rockabilly band THE BELLHOPS.
Now, 20 years later the fairytale is still not over. After having recorded several CD's with famous american artists, a new highlight has emerged. Recordings have been made for an album with SUN recording artist Billy Lee Riley. Something which makes Emilio very proud. At the end of 2008 and after 13 years a new Bellhops CD will be released which will be a musical milestone with 25 years worth of experience. something everybody will look forward to.
A few weeks ago I backed up Don Woody at the 1st Rockabilly Bash. I did that with the Tri-Tones from Estonia. Here’s a video clip with his song “Barkin’ Up The Wrong Tree”.
At the same evening I released my 2nd album ‘Mixed Up”. I recorded this album with The Neva River Rockets from Russia, the Tri-Tones from Estonia and did two duets with U.S.A singer Karling Abbeygate.
