My name is Steve Woolverton and I love music and positive people! I'm a graduate of GIT (Musician's Institute) in Hollywood, CA., and have played guitar for 20 years both live and in the studio and have recorded vast amounts of soundtrack work. Living in the Bay Area where there has always been a plethora of amazing artists, I saw an opportunity to bring together and showcase some of the most amazing musicians from the Northern California music scene! The project would be called "GUITAR FARM"! I envisioned great tunes with melodic, ripping guitar solos. The timing of this project was somewhat of a risky move being that the industry was not really embracing guitar driven music. It didn't matter, it had to be done! The music world is in need of some honest, intelligent, organic music and I felt I had to do my part. I began searching for top notch players that would be interested in contributing. A friend referred me to guitarist's Mark McGee (Luvplanet, Gregg Allman, Vicious Rumors) and Brad Gillis (Night Ranger). I shared my ideas with them and they both loved it! After hearing some demos of the tunes, they said, "Yes, I wanna be a part of this". Once word got out that Mark and Brad we're involved, the roster started to grow! Players such as Steve Morse, Pat Thrall, Dave Meniketti, Jeff Watson, Stef Burns & Terry Haggerty to name a few! The end result is a heartfelt collaboration showcasing many talented songwriters and players. I'm very proud of this inspired collection of material displaying such a wide variety of influences and spirited performances!
I now hope to take Guitar Farm to the stage, showcasing a variety of musicians in an exciting musical arena! I've already begun lining up more incredible musicians for "Guitar Farm 2". Mark McGee has already laid down some mind blowing guitar solos on some of my newest works. My vision for Guitar Farm is to be an ongoing legacy of great music and a high quality body of work! "Ferrets" features Morse, Varney, Watson, Woolverton, Kenny Serrano and Rich Bandoni and could be the seminal track on the CD, with a heavy rock feel, blazing solos with a multitude of tones, and an in-your-face attitude. Pat Thrall and Dave Meniketti spice up another highlight, "Barn Dance", a dynamic piece that offers 100% of the recommended daily allowance of guitar fury. Great idea - great execution.
