"AMAZING GRACE - THE DUALITY OF HUMANITY" YouTube Video
I made this video about the duality of humanity, extreme and surreal, where we can create extraordinary artful beauty and then turn around and smash someone's brains into it. Greg V. The music "Amazing Grace" is from my CD "Tailgate Troubadour". The song Amazing Grace was composed by John Newton (1725-1807) a Slave-ship captain turned Evangelical Preacher who later renounced slavery after years of personal torment.Click each movie to play

Having toured with Stevie Ray Vaughan's band Double Trouble (Chris
Layton, Tommy Shannon) and Jimi Hendrix's Band of Gypsys drummer Buddy
Miles, Greg V. smiled recalling all the years growing up in Woodbridge,
VA playing guitar endlessly, never knowing where the journey would lead
him... The journey accelerated the night he graduated from high school.
Instead of going to a party after the graduation ceremony Greg V. went
home to pack his Plymouth Fury full of guitars and amps, barely
sleeping before his cross-country move to San Francisco the next
morning.
Soon
he was playing with bassist and American Idol judge Randy Jackson,
Doobie Brothers drummer John Hartman and San Francisco legend Bonnie
Hayes songwriter for Bonnie Raitt. Many diverse recording sessions
followed, such as: Melissa Etheridge, Gregg Rolie (Journey keys) and
Michael Schrieve (Santana drummer). Levi's, Budweiser and Giorgio
Perfume commercials were done alongside producer Walter Afanasieff
(Mariah Carey, Celine Dion). Cory Lerios (Pablo Cruise keyboardist)
tapped Greg V. to play on the cult classic TV series Max Headroom and
three seasons of Bay Watch, performances on the TV series Parker Lewis
Can't Lose and O'Hara followed.
After a tour with guitar legend
Ronnie Montrose Greg V. headed for Los Angeles, CA and began touring
with drummer Buddy Miles for several years. French star David Hallyday
asked Greg V. to play throughout Europe for several more years followed
by a beautiful 3 year musical vacation in Honolulu, HI playing 250 gigs
a year with the islands premier rock band "The Piranha Brothers".
Longing for an organic musical environment he made a move to Austin,
Texas. Not knowing a soul in Austin he made friends quickly and within
three months Double Trouble's Chris Layton called asking Greg V. to
tour with Double Trouble in support of their CD release "Been A Long
Time". This was followed by a Central and South American tour with
Colin Hay, vocalist for Men At Work.
Currently residing in Nashville, TN he has performed with artists Jewel, Hal Ketchum, Keith Urban, Wynonna Judd, Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts, LoneStar, John Rich of Big & Rich, Ashley Ray, Wade Bowen, Amy Dalley, James Otto, Shelly Fairchild, Luke Dick, The Bittersweets. Greg V. also played in the house band for Season 2 of the CMT TV series "Gone Country"
Greg
V's solo CD release "Tailgate Troubadour" debuts his textural Americana
inspired soundtrack...Twelve organic and soulful instrumentals
featuring Lucinda William's drummer Jim Christie and Jackson Browne's
bassist Kevin McCormick. Beautifully mixed by Jackson Browne's
guitarist Mark Goldenberg and mastered by Gavin Lurssen at The
Mastering Lab, Grammy winner for the "O Brother Where Art Thou"
soundtrack. "Tailgate Troubadour" is all rootsy vibe and feel, taking
you on a timeless Americana road trip with Telecasters, Gretsches,
Dobro, Lap Steel, Baritone, Mando-guitar and glowing vintage amps as

Greg, it was truly a pleasure to meet you at the Amp Expo and converse. I appreciate what you're doing and hope that we can get an amp into your hands to let those unwritten songs out.
Been thru the ringer with my old bandmates lately (Boy were you ever smart to leave Virginia), and I deleted almost everyone. You mention practically everything about your career except the soundbytes you did for Bogner amps. I'd still love to see post the barking soundclip "Bogner Ecstasy Classic 05, Red, High Gain Channel" up on your playlist, so I wouldn't have to go visit the Bogner page to hear it once in awhile! (But then again, Bogner probably owns it right? And you probably wouldn't want to scare everyone off your page when they drop by for a visit)... LOL
The best live, "improptu" amplifier sample clip I've ever heard!
You're a monster guitarist, and I hope you realise how fortunate you are to be making a living playing guitar! I know its probably not as glamorous as it seems the minstrel's life, but it beats workin' for "the man!"
I was lucky enough to do all the guitar tracks this past May on the debut Bentt CD coming out soon on ICON Records before, I managed to get myself fired from the band in June... I'll let ya know when it drops so maybe you can give 'er a listen and tell me whatcha think. It should be very "alt rock" and modern sounding compared to our quickie demo EP I recorded back in '07.
No Americana grooves though, but some really great, catchy tunes.
