David Cohen is a multi-instrumentalist who performs on the classical & flamenco guitar, Chinese pipa and highland bagpipes. David was born in Philadelphia in 1961. His study of the guitar started after hearing the music of Joan Armatrading in 1976 and a friend likening her guitar playing to that of a classical guitarist. In 1977 David attended a concert by Philadelphia Guitarist Linda Cohen(no relation) It widened his eyes and ears and the quest has never ended.
Over the years David has studied the Chinese Pipa with Master Sun Li at the Manhattan organization, Music From China, the highland bagpipes with the Pipes & Drums of the Jersey Shore Shillelagh's of which he is now a member of the marching band. David has studied with Linda Cohen and continues studying the guitar with Carlos Rubio and Phillip Romeo both in Philadelphia.
David's teaching studio is located in Ocean Grove New Jersey and serves as Vice President of The Ocean Grove Area Chamber of Commerce. In 2003 David started the Ocean Grove Foodbank Benefit Concert
that is held the last Saturday in January with all proceeds going directly to the Monmouth/Ocean County Food Bank.
Realizing the need for more promotion of the classical music in the Philadelphia and Jersey Shore areas, David initiated the web sites: PhiladelphiaClassicalMusic.com and JerseyShoreClassicalMusic.com. The Philadelphia site contains interviews, features, news and a calendar of the local classical music scene. The sites are opened to all classical musicians and presenting organizations in the Philadelphia and Jersey Shore areas.
David has been featured in the Montgomery County Ticket, Asbury Park Press, Ocean Grove Times, The Ocean Grove Record, Puerto Rican Panorama WPVI T.V. Philadelphia, and Crossover w/ Jill Pasternak WRTI 90.1 Philadelphia and has also written for Philadelphia Music Makers Magazine.

Hey David - thanks for the add! I really appreciate it!
I’ve been lucky enough to write some hits for other people's records here in Nashville, but now I’ve got a new CD I’m just finishing up and I'm ready to go make some noise myself!
Shoot me your e-mail and zip, and I'll make sure to keep you up on what's up with my new CD and touring info!
so seeing you last night was a great surprise! It's always good to hear your beautiful guitar work - we'll have to come around more often. If not before, we'll see you May 10th in OG!
