About me: Non Profit organization set up to empower youth by providing FREE guitar lessons as an alternative to at risk behaviors.
Our Goal is to help stop violence in schools and on the streets by providing a music program for at risk and deserving children and teens. We want to divert as many children as possible from the self-destructive behaviors of drugs, alcohol, crime. By providing children and teens with guitars and lessons we hope to engage their creative potential and allow them a brighter self-empowered future.
No gun owner, gun store or gun collector wants to see kids killing kids. No gun advocate likes to hear about gun violence. we are not against guns; we are against gun violence!!
Currently the Mississippi Chapter is going on it's third week. We had an eventful meeting at The Shed BBQ & Blues Joint at the 2nd Annual Kids First Fest between Ray & Louis Nelson, (founders of Guitars not Guns) John Whitehouse, Gina Turner, Sammy Lee and Dr Bob of Z95.3 Classic Rock radio station birthed the beginnings of the Guitars Not Guns presence here in Mississippi. Thanks to these wonderful people we have the beginning of a bright future for the John Whitehouse Memorial Chapter of GNG Mississippi. Classes began Febuary 26! My name is Amber Lash and I have been given the honor of caring for John and Gina's wonderful contribution to our community. Big John will be grestly missed; however, we will think of him everytime a child strums their guitar! Who I'd like to meet: Williw Nelson. Any child that has gone through the program and is still playing! The owner of Gibson so I can thank him for all of his help in donating guitars to the children of our community. Other GnG Presidents, board members, teachers, and students.
