An interview is better than a simple Bio..
1) Gunfire is a legend in Italian heavy metal scene! Please tell me when was the band formed, and who were the original members. Why wasn't the record you recorded in 1987 released? What happened from then till the year 2000 you reformed?
There would be a lot to say about..anyway in brief..we started as Gunfire in the beginning of 1984 when Roby joined me and Fabio.Soon we found a drummer and the story began. We used to spent a lot of time rehearsing togheter and many songs came out in that period.A demo was recorded soon and was followed by a track for a compilation and a 4 tracks mini-lp.After the good rewievs we decided to went back in studio once again for a full lenght album but we have had many troubles with the label and management and the tracks we recorded wasnt published at all. After a frustrating period we split the band and we went for our own ways,of course keeping doing musical projects since the famous magazine Metal Hammer put us among the most important metal album of the millenium and so we thought: Hey someone still remember us..must be the right moment to rebuilt the band once again!..and we did it!
2) Please tell me how was everything at the time. Did you made a lot of concerts back then? What were the reactions of the press and Italian metal fans, for the record you did back in 1985? How difficult was for an Italian band back in the 80s to make it outside your homeland? Do you have good or bad memories from this period?
Man, that was the period of the real metal scene..and was really cool! Also if we werent in L.A. or London you could breath heavy metal 24 hours a day...and we were really crazy on stage as well as outside the stage ;-) Italy wasnt too much ready for us and the scene was quite poor to emerge abroad from here but..who cared..we have had a lot of fun and did the music we liked,so fuck the rest!
3) Now that you are back in the scene, do you believe that the time has come for Gunfire to finally receive the status they deserve? Are you willing to keep it going no matter how hard it will be?
I think that now that we are older we can be more confortable about being in a band and in this period there is enough attention for bands that keep on playing HM...so im quite confident that this time is the right time for Gunfire.. finally!
4) Is the new line up the same with the 80s? Please introduce us the band.
Ok..well we have lost a member, the drummer, and we have a new one but most of all i would like to mention the new second guitar player that join us two years ago. His name is Luka and hes a fuckin good guy on guitar...with him and the monster riff master Fabio the impact of the band has improved a lot...
And the voice of Roby is even better than in the 80s! So we are ready to kick some ass ï
5) You have already recorded 3 tracks from the unreleased lp , for promotional reasons mostly. Have you been contacted by a record label yet? Are you going to release it yourselves if no one bothers to do this release?
Yeah, we have a new demo out now, you can check our web site www.gunfire.it for more infos and i can tell you right now that we signed a deal with the german label Iron Glory last summer and we are just preparing the songs for a Cd to be realised soon...so stay tune!
6) Which songs will be recorded for your new album? Will they all be old songs you never manage to release? Do you have new songs, and if yes how different do they sound comparing to the old stuff?
The Cd will contains many of the songs we couldnt published at the time and also some classics like Thunder of war,of course recorded with the new line-up but not only...some new songs have been composed and will be included too. Be sure they are powerfull and melodic as in our style.
The cd we are talkin about is 'Thunder of war' that is out now !
