I am a wonderful little recording studio in Portland, Oregon. I have a medicine cabinet full of vitamins, nutrients and spices to bring to life and sustain songs with healthy hearts. I encourage and enforce a strict policy of respect, diligence and (most importantly) fulfillment and FUN in a pressure-free zone. I offer no hourly or daily rate on any project, unless requested. Instead I will have you over to record a song of yours, free of charge, so you can see what I do and how I do it, and so I can see what you do and how you do it. This way we can determine if it is right for each of us and determine if we would like to work together. If you are unhappy with the results, you can take the test song and do whatever you'd like with it. If you decide I am the right studio for you, then we will get together and discuss the project and the timeline. We will, together, set a fixed price on the project that will not fluctuate, so before we begin you will be sure where you stand monetarily and thus will not feel the "time-is-money" pressure as you would in most studios. I strongly believe pressure to make haste in the studio can and will take the magic out of a recording and hinder the true potential of any project. I will spend days, weeks, months or even a year with you to fulfill your dream with no additional fee or charge to the set price (unless it is so required, of course).
Prices will be set based on a variety of things:
a) The size of the project (how many songs).
b) The amount you aspire to work on the project (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.).
c) The technical work you'd like from my workers (engineering, mixing, production).
We'll determine how long the project might take, and then price it there. I promise to be cheaper than any other studio in Portland and to work hard to make it sound as amazing as you wish it to be. We will have so much fun, it will be ridiculous.
If you are interested in coming over and recording inside of me, or even just to check me out, you can contact me here on MySpace, but I would prefer you to email me at gungledungeon@gmail.com. Send me links to your music, if you have any recorded, and tell me a little bit about yourself and your ideas. My availability varies, as I am generally working on at least one project at any given time. Currently I have two young men who work inside of me, so between the two of them I am capable of handling a few projects at one time. So without further ado, let's meet my two operators:
Clayton Knapp
Engineer, Studio Manager
Clayton is my sugar-daddy, he provides me with the tools I need to make things happen. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for his nickel and persistence in keeping me healthy and stocked up with new and powerful sound-making/capturing utensils. He's also a fine engineer, equipped with the technical knowledge to ensure your songs their maximum... how do I say, "umphh." He's handsome and is the finest conversationalist I know, sure to help you relax and get thick in the "Ju-Ju" when that record button is pressed.
Dhani Rosa
Engineer, In-House Producer
Mr. Rosa is first-mate to Mr. Knapp's captain, helping him navigate all of my sonic seas, making us an impenetrable triangle of hit making phenomena.
Dhani has level 7 skill Digital Wizardry. He knows Pro Tools better than I know Pro Wrestling. Can you smell what the Rosa is cookin'? He can pitch shift a Rhianna chorus faster that you can say "'brella", and he'll fix your late kicks quicker than you can get embarrassed about it. Dhani's production skills are second to none. He has the uncanny ability of hearing a sound in his head and then making it reality. Like Obama but with sounds instead of hopes and dreams. Oh wait, Dhani makes those things a reality too.
But don't take our word for it, just listen to some of his clients:
"Dhani took my inner-visions and made them outer-visions. Now my sonic dreams are sonic realities." - Noah Jay-Bon (Dirty Mittens)
"One time we were recording and Dhani summoned some kind of Jazz Demon. He was skiting and skating like some kinda delirious funked up Jazz cat. Sure, Dhani conjured an evil spirit, but boy did our recordings sound good." -Jordan Bagnall (Doubledutch)
Mr. Rosa employs his craft to do everything from synthesize rump shaking pop hits to helping you formulate the kindest of folk ballads.
