O reggae chegou em João Pessoa não se sabe quando, mais hoje em dia não há quem desconheça sua existência em terras paraibanas. O ritmo nascido nos subúrbios da Jamaica no começo dos anos 60 permanece cada vez mais influente em todo o mundo. A demanda por shows tem crescido à medida que esse ritmo se populariza nas lojas de discos, rádios e internet...
Neste sentido, a banda GunJah, formada por apreciadores do bom reggae jamaicano, desde agosto de 2002, contribui com essa difusão do reggae na Paraíba. Em seus shows são transmitidas mensagens de paz e vibrações positivas através de músicas próprias e de clássicos do reggae mundial.
Se esforçando para tocar música da melhor qualidade, a GunJah acredita que a violência, a guerra e toda forma de autoritarismo podem ser combatidos e que o reggae é a melhor arma para isso.
A Banda GunJah é composta por músicos das mais diversas formações musicais. Alguns vieram da Universidade Federal da Paraíba, outros aprenderam seu ofício tocando na noite. Juntos trocam informações e desenvolvem parcerias em arranjos e letras.
A GunJah tem o ideal de divulgar o reggae como atitude espiritual de protesto pacifico contra a violência, a guerra, o racismo e a injustiça social; através de canções que tocam os corações das pessoas com paz, harmonia e amor, seja qual a cor da pele, a idade, o sexo, a religião ou status social.
O repertório da banda é dividido em duas partes: músicas próprias, resultado da fusão das raízes originais do reggae jamaicano com elementos regionais e mundiais. Além das músicas próprias foram incluídos clássicos do reggae mundial como Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Gregory Isaacs, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Sublime, Ponto de Equilíbrio, Alpha Blondy, Aswad, Augustus Pablos e Damian Marley.

Why to play reggae? The reggae arrived in João Pessoa it is not known when, more nowadays there is not who ignores your existence in this lands. The born rhythm in the suburbs of Jamaica at the beginning of the sixties stays more and more influential all over the world. The demand for shows has been growing as that rhythm becomes popular in the stores of disks, radios and internet... In this sense, the band GunJah, formed by lovers of the good Jamaican reggae, since August of 2002, it contributes with that diffusion of the reggae in Paraíba. In your shows peace messages and positive vibrations are transmitted through own music and of classic of the world reggae. Making an effort to play music of the best quality, GunJah believes that the violence, the war and every form of authoritarianism can be combatted and that the reggae is the best weapon for that. The GunJah is composed by musicians of the most several musical formations. Some came from the Federal University of Paraíba, others learned your occupation playing in the night. Together they change information and they develop partnerships in arrangements and letters.
GunJah has the ideal of publishing the reggae as spiritual attitude of protest I pacify against the violence, the war, the racism and the social injustice; through songs that play the people's hearts with peace, harmony and love, be which the color of the skin, the age, the sex, the religion or social status.
THE repertoire of the band is divided in two parts: own music, result of the coalition of the original roots of the Jamaican reggae with regional and world elements. Besides the own music classic of the world reggae were included like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Gregory Isaacs, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Sublime, Point of Balance, Alpha Blondy, Aswad, Augustus Pablos and Damian Marley.
