    "Lollipop"- Li'l Wayne & Static Major



    Li'l Wayne did the UNFORGIVEABLE during the BET Awards last night (6/24/08) when he accepted the award for Viewers Choice for "Lollipop", the song WRITTEN & PRODUCED by Stephen "Static Major" Garrett !! This ungrateful sack of human excrement NEVER acknowledged Static Major's involvement in the song. Needless to say that I went off during my radio show this afternoon (6/25)and several listeners, including Steve's family sounded off. Here the audio clips in the player below !! This audio is being sent to Carter's label, Universal/Cash Money and his management. This is a slap in the face to Steve's memory and it will not go unanswered.

As a radio personality, Mark's influences have been people like Robert W. Morgan and Brute Bailey as it relates to technique. They made sure that I was a true student of radio by encouraging me to listen to different genres and formats

People like my first mentor. "Trapper John" Harlan, Ron Brown, Tony Fields, "The Real" Rick James and Mary Catherine Sneed taught me the physcology of the business and the essentails of programming.

My musical influences include my dad, William Gunn Jr. He put me behind my first drum kit age the age of 5. Earth, Wind & Fire, Chicago, Toto and Mozart were also instrumental as far as musical technique and execution were concerned.

Production influences: James William Guercio, Maurice White, The Bomb Squad, and David Foster from the old skool. These guys all have a signature sound. As soon as you hear one of their projects, you know who did it.

New Skool Producers have to include Timbaland, Missy Elliot, Kanye West, Paris and Static Major pretty much for the same reason.
