Gurtrudestein emerged in full flight from a proverbial cavernous, monstrous, cacophonous, atonal and dissonant womb-cave-tomb midway through 2008, taking southern California on a mad, mad, mad, mysteriously maniacal sonic adventure with their tour de force visually enhanced live performances. This hard-working quadtet played 30 shows and produced their debut album by the year's end. Primed to explode in 2009 with a tour, a split 7" and a live EP, keep an eye on this band bringing energy, style, and originality back into an oftentimes tedious, homogenous, vacant musical wasteland.
