Neil Young on acid sings Dylan ... or so someone said ;o)
Guru Monkey started from a few songs written a couple of years back. The songs were written with no intention of ever recording them until J met Joel in Cork Head's bar, Tsukuba, Japan and Joel offered to record 'Let's Be Reasonable About This' CD through Nexist: the first project.
Guru Monkey are a 'workshop' band. This page is dedicated to their second project album ... Cause And Effect.
J and Joel write the songs and sets the chord arrangements, while Joel embellishes the tracks and produces. Sparky (from Boogie Sue) plays lead guitar and bass. Ken O'keefe plays the drums. Bruno Shakir has also played bass, added treatments to the music and sung on a few of the tracks on the up coming CD.

What's goin' on Guru Monkey? May you always have stables of horses to service your needs. I love your eyes, I know they can stare through my thoughts. You are dressed with filaments and people take pains to make you fully incandescent this evening. How beautiful is the snowshine in your eyes, so directly current from the static in your mind. Your eyes show as many deep and full shades of fire as a thousand supernovas. Your hair sends forth a sheen remniscent of golden sunlight winding through shadows. As the bliss slowly rises in my incandescent eluxulator, your mere presence has a euphoric effect upon me. I relentlessly desire cotton candy lollipops. I find your eyes to be a wondrous amusement park filled with neo-plastic pleasures and turkish delights. In your absence I am forced into finding other forms of amusement while thinking about you. Your sweet voice is like the application of aloe vera upon a sunburnt back. Your beauty is multiplexed in contemplation of your multidimensional effervescence.
The perfect background to your daily pleasures (...) Melody-filled, ethereal and very rich; it's a soundtrack to an imaginary adventure with romance, drama, chases and a happy ending piped in from the 60s.
This years festival is headlined by Billy Bragg (Friday), Seth Lakeman (Sunday) and Peatbog Faeries (Saturday) with many more top artists also performing incl the award winning The Demon Barbers.
Hello Jason , you've just caught me before I go off to bed - actually I've been dozing in the armchair for the past four hours or so !!!!
I haven't been around much on-line until the past month or so.
And as is the way of the world I'll now be away for the next week or so - Wednesday onwards - although I may have access to a PC during my travels to see family and friends in Essex.
Oh, and I've got a new song up - Shooting Star - a song that seems to be on the point of cracking up until the weight of its own fragility .... or something like that !!!!
Hey GM I loved' Cosmic Curtain' so much I added it to my list of best favorites from Myspace and Youtube - my list has been getting a lot of good buzz - check it out and repost it anywhere you like:
