Unquestionably one of South Africa's finest House DJs and one half of legendary DJ duo, the Pimp Squad, Guy Herman launched what has become a stellar career with early residencies at venerable Jo'burg clubbing institutions Reality, 206 and Sublime. Having played everything from deep house to garage to breakbeat to electro, Guy's current sound is a mixture of jackin’ house and crunchy electro beats.
Guy first took to the decks in 1999. His natural talent saw him move into the professional arena at a meteoric pace and by 2001 he had succeeded in securing a place in the finals of the SA Technics Battle of the DJ's. Since then, Guy developed his alter ego as member of the Pimp Squad, where he and fellow DJ Jon S have established themselves alongside SA’s finest.
Undeniably South Africa's most popular DJ duo, the Pimp Squad was formed in 2001 when Guy Herman and Jon S, both established DJ's in their own right, teamed up at Sublime's first Boiling Point event. 2 DJ's, 4 turntables and 2 DJ boxes at either end of the dancefloor.. and so the legend was born. The duo have been partners in crime ever since, rocking dancefloors across the country and presently holding a much coveted residency at Truth Nightclub in Midrand.
Not satisfied with the mere craft of mixing music, Guy began producing and releasing his own music almost 3 years ago. Perpetually busy in studio adding to his already impressive discography he now has releases and remixes on imprints such as Junky Trunk, Grooved, Second Session, Downsouth, Buzz Cut, Funkfield, Flexual and forthcoming on Electric Sushi, Roostar, Casual Kickback and Candy Music.
Whether in tandem as Pimp Squad or manning the decks solo and causing ultimate mayhem, Guy Herman's versatility, impeccable talent and exuberant style has ensured him billing alongside some of the worlds top DJ's and producers including Carl Cox, Tom Novy, Inland Knights, Dieselboy, Charles Webster, Richie Louisy & Jack Henney, DJ Yellow, DJ Daze, Bruno Banner (Troublemen), Harrison Crump, Alex Kid, Kaskade, Tim Westwood, Geoff Kemp (Rapture), Malcolm Duffy, Sister Bliss, Brandon Block, Mr Thing (Scratch Perverts), Dominic B (Stanton Warriors) and Justin Robertson and he has accompanied names such as Joey Youngman, Jason Hodges, Jake Childs, Jay West and Sexual Chocolate on national tours of South Africa.
Guy has held residencies at 206, Reality, Sublime, Tramps, Sudada and for All Good and has played regularly for Matric Rage, KISS, Next Movement, YFM, 5FM, FTV, Roxy's, The Crazy88, Suede, Tempo's, Malabar, Catwalk, Groove Bar, Carfax, Tilt, Raffles, The Bang Bang Club, Deluxe, 52 Parliament, Numbers, The Deck, VIP in Plett and Fashion Lounge in Botswana amongst others. He continues to feature at almost every major club across SA and is currently resident at Sutra, Chilli Lounge, Truth and H2O.

Ben (Brown/Unpopular) i like all the tracks. my favourites of real thang are the original and toms mix - especially like the rudebwoy b-line and old style beats of the TSI mix.my favourite of the whole release is programming - i think mostly cos of the samples and the way they are arranged. its good fun.
Mike (Kolour): sch's original broke new ground for these guy's sound. it has a nice disco vibe that works really well in the mix. i've been playing it since john sent it moons ago. the mastering on it came out perfect too. really brings the tune to life.damien's remix features more of the vocal and that's never a bad thing as far as i'm concerned. he churned out yet another remix where he takes the original tune and makes it his own. this is definitely something i'll play tom's remix is definitely a departure from the other two versions. he adds a level of filth to it that contrasts the dynamic of the EP just enough to give it that 'something for everyone' feel.
Quell: I LOVED Damien's old/new school remix and the original version of that track and i really like Toms 'programming' track.
