Guymon Adams has had a career in the independent and underground music business in one form or another for over 17 years, and has played guitar and composed music since age 12. Throughout every element of the business, including his own music, Guymon blends professionalism, conviction, raw energy and passion.
Among previous accomplishments in his career, Guymon Adams was one of the guitarists for the New Orleans hardcore metal band, When Dreams Become Nightmares, and later went on to form God's Little Toy with Harley McClellan. Early in his career, under his first record label venture, Mere Mortal, Guymon released CDs from You Shriek and SubVersion, as well as 2 epic compilation CDs - "Ceremonial: A Tribute to Joy Division" (1994) and "Death for Life" (1998) which was an AIDS benefit / awareness compilation of popular goth-industrial bands of the time. Both compilation CDs are now officially out of print until further notice, and considered collector's items. Guymon also co-organized Convergence 5 in 1999 at House of Blues, New Orleans, bringing to the annual event acts such as Clan of Xymox, the Cruxshadows, Ex-Voto, Mentallo & the Fixer and many more. The event resulted in record breaking attendance and a sold out venue. Guymon also spent a large amount of time promoting and DJing several other goth, industrial and rock events around town, while honing various multimedia design skills, and learning some hard but valuable lessons about the ugly side of the music business.
Since Hurricane Katrina uprooted Guymon Adams from New Orleans in 2005, he has relocated to Austin, TX, launching his solo project and firmly planting new roots in the local underground scene, alongside an entirely new breed of emerging DIY artists. His first full length solo release was "Dead Flowers & Heart Shaped Boxes", a collection of bittersweet love songs laced with dark humor in which he explored his old school gothic influences, and even began blending goth with spaghetti western / ranchero elements.
The aptly titled "Sessions", Guymon's 2nd full length, is a collection of various studio and home recording sessions which organically (chaotically at times) manifested between 2006 and 2009. In several songs he returns to his punk and metal roots, while exploring new vocal stylings, and collaborating with fellow musicians and friends, including two parapolitical parody songs with alternative talk radio host Jack Blood of Deadline Live on lead vocals, as well as a special rendition of "New Orleans" by and with Kimberly Freeman (of One-Eyed Doll) in which Guymon originally tracked Kimberly's a'cappella performance during a radio promo session, but was later inspired to compose a new background theme for the song.
In 2009 Guymon Adams began laying the foundation for a new company called Slitscan Media. Slitscan is a multimedia concept combining music production and promotion, internet radio, web marketing, and more. One major project under the Slitscan moniker, in association with the ATX Underground is a full length documentary about the Austin underground scene (currently in pre-production).
