BIOGRAPHY GUY SWEENS:
Guy Sweens, who was born in the South-East of the Netherlands, showed much interest in music as a child and was spending time listening to pop and classical music throughout his youth. His grandfather inspired Guy to play the piano and it was at this time he discovered how he enjoyed composing music by himself. When Guy reached the age of 16, he found out about a rarely new technique in the pop music scene that was and still is very popular: (re)mixing of already existing records. By coincidence in 1986, Guy discovered the weekly broadcast remixes of world famous Dutch remixer/producer Ben Liebrand. Inspired by Liebrand's remixes, Guy started to make remixes himself. He used a room in front of his bedroom in his parents house, that became his home-studio. Almost all of Guy's remixes were broadcast on Belgium radiostation "Maasvallei Radio" in a show called "Golfbreker" from DJ Raoul Morreau. Many times, Guy went to Maasvallei Radio to announce his new remix and gave a short interview about how he made the remix.

In 1990, Guy changed direction and began producing Dance music. Many of these Dance-tracks were also broadcast on Maasvallei Radio. In 1993, Guy decided to start composing a totally different style of music, called New Age Music. Guy discovered this genre in 1987 while listening to a radio-show "Het is te Hoopen" from DJ Jan ten Hoopen. The first New Age song Guy ever listened to was "Dawnlight" from Karunesh and from that moment on he never looked back. Guy went on composing both Dance-Music (mostly Trance) and New-Age Music until the year 2000. Then he decided to concentrate only on composing New Age and World-Fusion. Guy found out that he liked composing music in this genre more then composing Dance-Music, because it is more varied and more everlasting. New Age and World-Fusion gave him much more freedom to express himself without the obligation to constantly keeping up with new musical trends, which is always the case in the Dance-scene.

In 2005, Guy became a professional composer/producer. He won the MG Music New Talent Competition and signed a record deal with MG Music later that year. In Spring 2005, Guy released his first album with MG Music "Gaya of Wisdom".

In 2006, Guy participated in a cd-project called "OM" and wrote and produced the track "Mahayana" featuring Medwyn Goodall on guitar and pan-pipes and Terry Oldfield (brother of Mike Oldfield) on the Bansuri-flute.

In 2007, Guy came with a new album "Kamadeva", which is the follow-up to "Gaya of Wisdom". It's an album full of passion as it tells the story of Kamadeva, the Hindu God of Love.

2009 brings the final chapter of Guy's India-Trilogy with the album "The Legend of Ganesha". This album tells the legendary story of Ganesha and features guest performances by Medwyn Goodall on guitar, mandolin and pan-pipes and Sangit Om on Bansuri-flute.

Guy's music can best be defined as vibrant, passionate, spiritual and saturated with melodic warmth and gentle rhythm. It is a fusion of western and exotic styles with a clear Indian influence. In order to create these textures, Guy uses many different instruments from all over the world, combined with modern synthesis and technology.

Guy is currently working on a new album which is planned for 2010. More info will be revealed later...!
