"This was one of the highlights of last summer for me. Went with a friend with the original intention of just going for the Friday night to see the Bays. Thought we might as well throw tents etc in the back of the car just in case.. ...ended up having leaving on Sunday evening as we had prior commitments, would have loved to have stayed until Monday. Fabulous atmosphere, great location, very fine music and met some lovely people - I seriously cannot recommend this enough "

Who I'd like to meet:

Global Village Peace Gathering

The Global Village Peace Gathering is a three day annual event. The event is organised by a voluntary collective and as members, we are dedicated to operating the event in harmony with the local environment as well as with local community.

We provide a wide and eclectic range of entertainments for the public such as workshops, displays, talks and performances, including many "child centred" activities. We aim to make this a family friendly event.

The site on which we hold the event features several dedicated performance stages, stalls and cafes; not to mention the tranquil , natural surroundingsof the site on which it is held.

Over the past few years, a long term plan has been formulated for the land upon which the Gathering will take place. Hundreds of trees have been planted, the use of chemicals eliminated, and as a result the wildlife has been allowed to flourish.

The oxbow lakes and willow walkway, both well established, provide a peaceful space for relaxation, in contrast to the lively workshops, stalls and music stages.

The event provides busines to many local and national companies with good trading ethics. We are also committed to providing opportunities for local performers to showcase their skills at the event, in addition to the variety of international acts.

Request for materials

Because we are a non profit event we rely largely on donations from local businesses. You can help by donating anything you can spare. This may be old or unwanted stock or anything you might have to give from the following list:

  • Paint of any type. (acryllic, poster, spray, housepaint etc)
  • Glue (PVA and any other type-all will be used!)
  • Material (sheets,of any colours or size)
  • Board, which can be leant on to paint, or painted on.
  • Wood for burning amongst other uses
  • Glitter and all other arty/ crafty things, especially paintbrushes
  • Waterproof/fireproof canvas, material, or any kind of tarp
  • Thread, elastic, rope, twine
  • Anything else you may have

If you have, or know of anyone we can contact for these things please ,in the first instance leave a message on myspace and we'll be in touch.

Hail hippies!

Hope all is well.

Just thought we'd let you know about a gig we're doing which might (lump in throat) be our last. For a number of reasons we're calling it a day after October, at least for a while.

So Saturday the 18th of October is going to be pretty special.

We've got the big Live Room at Plug in Sheffield for the night, and pressganged almost everybody who has ever played with us over the years to join us for an Uber-Gig of Justice.

We're playing from 8 till 10:30 with a bit of a break in the middle. Then we've got the Earth Bar for more dancing and a nice chilled out after-party till 3.

It's £6 in advance from Plug Box Office on rockingham Gate (tel 0114 2413040), Jack's Records on Division Street and online at http://www. the-plug. com/tickets. £8 on the door if there’s any left on the night. And this one’s open to anyone over 14 too!

We're going to blast through into a better, oranger dimension. Please join us.

It's been a hellish road to get everything ready - many things conspiring against us - but we travel today and nobody else had better get in our way!! Really looking forward to playing on Sunday - we are launching the new CD album on Sunday at the gathering - if you like what you hear - see one of the band after the set for a copy - a snip at £5 for a full release spec CD full of Dub Reggae! Also includes a free comic strip by leggorocker (the dj on at 2pm on sunday!)
