Nailing Your Wife
General
glitter-graphics.com Writing is my passion but Raising Autism awareness is my mission. My youngest son was diagnosed at age two and a half and it ripped our world apart. HOWEVER early diagnosis and lots of therapy are key to his and other children's progress so I am very into getting the message out. DON'T GIVE UP ON YOUR CHILD. Justin didn't start talking till almost 6 and by 7 he was signing, speaking English AND Spanish now he is 8 and trying to learn Chinese with me, can read and navigate the computer.... so DO NOT GIVE UP. I am a mom foremost, a storyteller second and a woman last. Doesn't seem right does it? SIGH. I love to write; screenplays, shorts, anything fictitious because the real world is just too real so please don't make me do it, AND I am very proud of my typos so be damed too yuo if you don't lkie ti. My goal is to be a female Steven King not just because I want to be a uber successful and famous horror writer (but I'll take it!) but because of his enduring popularity and the fact that his books make people talk! I know because I have talked. Read one of his tales and you have to tell someone about it. I rip through his books, cannot put them down. Book in hand as I eat, go to the bathroom etc. I can't wait to turn the page and find out what's happening next yet I am shattered at the end because it's over. Afterwards, pieces of action and dialogue run through my mind and I savor it as the story stews in my head, taking little bits out and sampling them. Enjoyment is composed of obsessive reading, afterglow and intense discussion by the proverbial water cooler about how totally rad the book was and anticipating laying hands on another. And if it's part of a series? Ho-ho! Dying of need until the next volume is on the shelves. That is my white whale. And if some Hollywood exec wants to make it into a movie? Show me the dotted line. Oh I know not all of his stories were brilliance embodied, of course not, I have read duds and there are some I cannot stand but on the whole he is pretty darn close to being the ideal writer. Forget "I wanna be like Mike" for this girl it's "I wanna be like Steve" That is my lofty goal. I like to write suspense, horror, sci fi, comedy, action. I don't pose as a tomboy but you will find a common thread with many of my leading ladies. They are all smart, strong, loyal and brave. No fainting or running and falling down to get eaten here, no way. Everytime I watch a film and the girl does something idiotic like falling down or leaving the gun in the car and walking into the dark woods I say "you know why she's so stupid? Because a man wrote this" Before you yell "manhater!" men are great, fabulous even, it just seems they like to see their women helpless, hapless and brainless when being pursued by a maniacal killer. How about fearless for once? My ladies fight off the monster they do not fatten it up. I might let a couple get gnawed on but they will likely be baddies or so unbelievably annoying that you cheer when she takes a dirt nap. But be careful she might pop up later reeking of embalming fluid and rotting flesh wrapped in the tattered remains of her burial shroud. The other thing you should beware is I don't promise you a happy ending. I like them, love them in fact but I also love the plot twist the "omigosh! she died?" and that old favorite "what happened? what happened?" I want you to have to frantically flip back through the pages, rewind the movie, anything to find out. I like to make people laugh in real life and that carries over into my fiction I think. I am always pleasantly startled to be reading horror and find myself laughing out loud. Thank You Sai King. I also write to ENTERTAIN. To make people think and to make them wish the story would never end is what I really strive for. Sometimes I think I succeed and other times the reader is probably thinking "my God! When will this nightmare end?". On me; I am a blue jeans, tank top and flip flop girl. I like to write wearing my Grama's old pink robe and I love to read, hang out with my kids (but I hate the homework because they're getting smarter than me real fast) and listen to music. I think a man in a kilt is the bowm chicka mow mow. I am not a neat freak. Who could be with boys in the house? Forget about it. I have a pair of furry Crocs (which I call Frocs) even though I think they are supremely ugly but they are also supremely comfortable and THAT is a key word. Be comfortable. With life, myself and others. I am sometimes uncomfortable but hopefully never make anyone feel that way. That would suck in a bad way. Someone once told me that Saggitarius' always speak their mind and are then surprised when people react. So although I don't really buy into Astrology, I believe that one. I am almost always surprised when I say something unintentionally funny. It's like there's this little gag reel in my head that spits out one liners or little ba-da-da-tish at the appropriate moments. Probably all that dialogue careening around in my head. I am surprised because I usually do it intentionally. I am frank at times, other times Bill but that's another story. (see? right there? intentional) I have a hard time being serious because I swear sometimes if you don't laugh you'll spend all day crying. Not me obviously, I'm too well rounded psychologically to spend all day in tears. In fact I'm pretty sure all my personalities are well rounded. Can I just say here that we are too hard on multi personality people? As a writer I think it would be one heck of a writing tool to have. Just as important as white out maybe. I love my kids to pieces even though they drive me crazy and my family though not even slightly perfect seem to always be there at the right times and friends who NEVER are afraid to say "you know that last piece you wrote sucked ass" Thanks loveys!
glitter-graphics.com I am a visual and imaginative person who finds inspiration and humor in just about everything. I am at times a confused Christian. I mean I love the idea of creation; a loving Father made this whole place for US! but then the Big Bang theory is such an awesome theory, in fact science as a whole is awesome so it's hard sometimes to reconcile science and Divine thought. The dinosaurs too. Working on it though. For a history chick like me the Bible is more than food for thought and for the me that NEEDS to know there's something bigger out there, something after life, it is essential to have. You have to believe in something or you'll fall for everything. I think that's how it goes. I speak Spanish fluently thanks to my Barcelona Dad and am currently learning French and Chinese. Why not? I am becoming more environmentally conscious to repay all the years of aquanet. I'm a vegetarian after nearly choking to death on a piece of steak though I do feed my family meat and when I do I prefer au natural, organic and free range flesh. Hormones need not apply we have enough of our own thanks. AND FUTBOL!!!!!!!!! That's soccer for the Yanks, Manchester United rocks bollocks! Oh yeah and so my Yayo doesn't kill me VIVA BARCELONA
MusicWho Wants to Live Forever
.. When I was young, that is young enough not to be embarassed by dancing around to my parent's records and old enough to turn the turntable on, I would put on Neil Diamond, Barry Mannilow or Abba and make up little performances. I remember my Yayo bought me my own for Christmas when I was in middle school and I still remember the records he got for me; Thriller, Synchronicity (Police), Bonnie Tyler and Pipes of peace (Mccartney). Man do I wish I'd kept those, no clue where they went. Music was and is a big part of my life. I listen to specific songs when working on certain projects for inspiration and often get ideas for stories from songs. Music can lift you up, bring you down, get you going or slow you down. It's also a great way to bring people together. I still love dancing around the house but now I have three sometimes willing partners. If I bribe them enough. Kidding. Whenever "Love of my life" off Queen's A night at the opera CD comes on Justin will come on the run knowing he will instantly be picked up, cuddled, rocked and sung to. I always feel at peace and so loved when we do that. I try to keep up with the current rock and I remember the boys had a friend over and they were watching Fall out boy videos and I was singing along. That boy looked absolutely gobsmacked to see a MOM doing that and more so knowing the words. I'm like "what I can't be your mom and be cool?" Apparently not. My music taste is pretty diverse. I listen mostly to classic rock, I loathe country with a few minor exceptions like Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton. I can only handle a small dram of rap, again old school like Run DMC, LL Cool J Salt N Pepa, that kind I like but now it's all (ok maybe not all but a great percentage) Hos and __ words that I can't condone no matter what the reasoning behind it and I do actually forbid my sons from listening to it. My oldest can burst his ear drums listening to GNR and his other faves but no gangsta crap. Sorry. Nothing even remotely demonic or hateful like he who shall not be named. I enjoy listening to the 80's pop I grew up with because it still reverbs in me, the oldies (doo wap) classical (got to love those baby Einstein DVDs), Opera thanks to Montserrat Cabballe of Espana; beautiful, pure, magnificent, she hits and holds a note during the intro of Barcelona that raises gooseflesh on my entire body and it makes me smile and want to weep at the same time. Absolutely wonderful. I have to admit that the sound of bagpipes and drum fire up my blood, often making me want to plait my hair into war braids and fight for something, there's just something so proud and uplifting up it. I did not march in the band but I love the sound of them especially the drumline which ticks my dad, brother and uncle because they played in the brass section. Mom played the piccolo so she's okay with the drum love. Rhythm makes me move what can I say? I love the soundtrack to O' brother where art though with its hymns and folk music. I have this ability to remember lyrics and pull them out of my memory warehouse at the drop of a hat. Unfortunately I had to throw out the algebra files to make room. Along with that is whenever someone says "hey who sings that?" they will most likely come to me and if I don't know I will beat myself up to figure it out. Be warned that if it comes to me at 2 am you may get a call. I'm pretty sure it was the grammar files that went that time. Or maybe just punctuation. So you can see I enjoy music and I like a lot and a little of nearly all types. Here's the ones that come easily to mind though I'm sure I'll have to come back and add more; My ultimate favorite is QUEEN, Battlefield band, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys and now I have to add Marc Gunn with his kilted kitty masterpieces, Green Day, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Scandal, Outkast, Black eyed peas, Dire Straits, Carpenters (that's right I said it I like Air Supply too so there), Billy Idol, Eagles, James Blunt, Daniel Powter, One republic, Pink, No doubt, Erasure, Pink Floyd, Chumbawumba, The Proclaimers, Metallica, Bryan Adams, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Avril Lavine, Reo Speedwagon, Tom Jones, Rod Stewart, Cyndi Lauper, Stevie Wonder, BB King, Culture Club, George Michael, Elton John (why is it that gay British men can sing so well? Idk but I like it) Daniel and Natasha Beningfield (are they related? I see a similarity) Alanis Morissette, Jim Croce, INXS, Journey, U2, REM, Police, Judas Priest, Beatles, Rush, Genesis and the solo efforts of Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel, Simply Red, Depeche mode, Pet shop boys, The Who, Duran Duran, Aha, Jimmy Buffet, Oingo Boingo, Information society, Lionel Ritchie, Dave Matthews band, Extreme, Moody Blues, Boston, Cream and solo Eric Clapton, Train, Heart, Ozzy, Prince, Poison, Kenny Loggins, Maroon 5, Five for fighting, Jason Mraz, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Red hot chili peppers, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Loreena Mckennit, Sarah Brightman, Sarah Mclachlan, OMD, ELO, Dan Maclean, Mika, Casey Stratton, N'sync (you wanna make something of it?), Jack Johnson, The Clash, Boston, Styx, The Ramones a bit ooh the Kinks! Eden's Bridge, some Jethro Tull, David Bowie, Paul Rogers of Bad Company and Free, Alice Cooper. See? mostly classic rock except the Stones (I'm sorry I can't I just can't) and AC DC which is screaming not singing in my opinion. The Across the Universe soundtrack is awesome! New rock like 30 Seconds to Mars, Fall Out Boy, Panic!, Plain White Tees Freddie Mercury

Finally got on board and read the Twilight Series, read all 4 in four days they were great although being the way I am I thought she tied up the package just a little too neatly. Memoirs of my melancholy whores' by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is brilliant. The concept of passionately, absolutely and heartbreakingly loving someone without even the tiniest kiss or touch of the hand. The chaste and tender adoration he bestows on his own personal sleeping beatuy. Marvelous. Cormac's book 'The Road' is amazing, I mean I devoured that thing, delicious. Heart shaped box by Joe HIll is a new favorite, well worth reading again and again. The Talisman and Black House by Peter Straub and Stephen King, lost boy/lost girl by Straub. Most of Stephen King with 'The Stand' as my favorite followed very closely by the Dark Tower series,'The color purple by Alice Walker', Lewis's 'The Chronicles of Narnia', 'Out of the silent planet, Perelandra' although I didn't really like 'That hideous strength' which is funny because other readers are like "what? that was the best one!" I think not. 'I know why the caged bird sings' by Maya Angelou, 'The toy collector" by James Gunn, 'Grapes of Wrath' is a classic,' Angela's Ashes', 2010, Shoeless Joe, Memoirs of a Geisha, I like Persia Woolsey's trilogy of Guinivere, Gabaldon's Outlander series, Moaning's yummy Highlander series, Sara Donati's wilderness series and much as it pains me to admit... Rowling (I KNOW!) I love classics like Barre, Carroll, Dahl, Brothers Grimm, Irving, Baum and such, horror, historical fiction...I love rereading those treasured books from my childhood and youth and getting the boys interested in them as well. We have STACKS of books we are going through nightly they just eat up the literature and as a writer I am all for that..
HeroesMy youngest son who triumphs over travail and my other two amazing sons who give so much to help him do it including my time but show no bitterness, only love. All my angels Grampa and Grama in the Woods, Yaya, Uncle Greg, Baby Uncle Larry, Great Grama and Grampa, Great great Yayo, Freddie and his catty namesake Freddie Boots and just recently Uncle Dick. Every single one of you did remarkable things in your life and every single one of those things made my life infinitely better so thank you. ..........JOHN EARL

About John Earl

Growing up in the streets of Brooklyn, my mother was put in a position to join a religious cult; which lead to something that was supposed to be a safe haven. However, it turned out being "Hell on Earth". As a child from ages of 5-8 years, along with my two brothers and sister, I was faced with severe child abuse that included being whipped on my back with a switch from trees then dipped in alcohol and hot sauce on the open wounds. Forced to go on a five day fast with no water no food. Then there was "hell night" where two groups of people would line up side by side and I would have to walk through the line and be whipped with a switch. The list goes on and on, but eventually my bigger brother got the courage to leave and I left with him. That then led to the arrest and conviction of sixteen cult members. Due to this happening, it messed up my mind and lead me to the streets, then to about fourteen different group homes, numerous jails, and four prisons. I was labeled by the state of New York as a menace to society. I had to grow up the hard way; which has put a lot of pain in my life, but at the same time a blessing in disguise and has made me the man I am today by the grace of God; who has been with me through it all. I can stand up now as a man and not dwell on the past, but look onto the future as a new beginning in life.

Spring is here and so are the butterflies! This week I have a gallery of a particular group of butterflies called Brushfoots. Brushfoots are the most commonly known and encountered of the large colorful butterflies (excluding the swallowtails) found in Florida and the Americas. These include the monarchs, fritillaries, buckeyes, and the viceroy below (who has nearly identical markings as the toxic monarch butterfly) to keep it from being eaten by birds.... cool trick, huh? :-)

Click the butterfly below to see my gallery - and please let me know what you think!

Thanks for looking!

I love your passion for work and life. I am totally supportive of your mission. It is obvious that you are special and you make others feel special by your presence. I hope we get to work together someday.

See you on the set...
