Bio
The twin villages of Stoner and Doom are inhabited primarily by a male populace, and are situated in a cold, remote territory that most of female kind has yet to tread in. However, one lady has taken a lonely trek into these wooded villages to establish herself as a female celebrity, and the men of the villages couldn’t be happier to have her here. The name of this lady pioneer is Gyda Gash, and the 60 Milligrams/Ghost Boyfriend 7” sets up shop for a great performer whom you’ll be hearing far more from in the near future...Gyda Gash is not only now establishing herself as a solo artist, but she has a deep and rich involvement in the evolution of rock music that dwarves many of her male contemporaries. Her earliest participation was in the 1977 New York punk scene, which she has helped to narrate the story about with her involvement in Legs McNeil’s and Gillian McCain’s classic book Please Kill Me. However, Gyda was never content to be a nostalgic participant in a bygone musical movement. “As time progressed, I realized that I needed to move on into music that was darker and scarier,” Gyda said in a recent interview. And that she did, picking up the bass guitar and, as she puts it, “learning to play—loudly!” Gyda’s tour-de-force as a musical performer includes work with Psychic TV, The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black, Angel Rot (featuring White Zombie veteran Tom Five), and most recently, the acclaimed Judas Priestess - America's All-Girl Tribute to the Metal Gods. ..Gyda continues to live in New York City, but her vision and position ahead of the curve puts her above and beyond the so-called “cutting edge” metropolis in which she lives...- David Gasten .. ..60 MILLIGRAMS VIDEO: ...... .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ........A Doomed conversation: The astounding Dave Sherman (Earthride, Wretched, Spirit Caravan), myself, Bobby Liebling (Pentagram), Dale Flood (Unorthodox, Asylum).. ........1977-2007: 1977 photo taken by Anya Philips, 2007 photo taken 7/7/07 by Martin "Blackbag" -
