Fusion, Cross-Genre, Multi-Genre... Although rather vague, these are quite possibly the most accurate terms to describe the music of GypsyFoot. This Bismarck, ND based 7-piece group has not only a serious passion for creating music together, but also a common mission: "To unite people from all walks of life through Musical Diversity." Since forming in the fall of 2003, it has become increasingly apparent that this mission is succeeding. And by taking a look around at the crowd during one of their live performances, one would certainly have to agree. Grandmas, Grandpas, and their grandkids have all been known to jam out to the good-timin' GypsyFoot grooves. Combining elements of Jazz, Funk, Latin, Blues, Rock and Reggae with their penchant for spontaneous improvisation, GypsyFoot continues to defy 'marketability' in today's heavily genre-based music industry. Of course, they wouldn't have it any other way -- they're not looking for fame or fortune. They're simply content to make a living through the music they love to create. . GypsyFoot's positive messages and contagious dance grooves continue to spread throughout the nation so long as music is the sound of love.
GypsyFoot released their self-titled debut album in February of 2005. Their current album “Multiformity” was released in October of 2008. All of the songs capture the amazing energy and talent of GypsyFoot. Although their debut album marks an important cornerstone in their career, it must be said that if music is the higher power, then the stage is where they go to worship it. Please join them in their fellowship when you have the chance.
GypsyFoot has performed main stage at the 15th annual Seattle Hempfest as well as several other large music festivals in the Upper Midwest, including several back to back years at the 10.000 Lakes Festival in Detroit Lakes, MN, with the likes of Phil Lesh and Bob Weir of Grateful Dead, Tre Anastasio of Phish, Umphreys Mcgee, George Clinton, and the Flaming Lips, just to name a few. They've also performed at Harvest Festival in Harmony Park (MN) with Particle, NestFest and the Harmony Music Festival, both in ND. With several festivals under their belt and thousands of copies of their albums already sold, it is certain that GypsyFoot will remain a force in the Upper-Midwest jam-scene for years to come. GypsyFoot has also been seen on Prairie Public Television’s (with a 5 state broadcast radius) "Soundcheck" featuring several artists from across the Upper Midwest.
GypsyFoot is more than just a band - it's also a way of living that facilitates a genuine feeling of community for those who choose to experience it. GypsyFoot will continue experimenting with new musical recipes until they find something they believe is good enough to serve to the world.
