It's a fleeting glimpse
A sudden sense... clarity
Then reality
~
for real~
the knife went deep~
my heart in hand it bleeds~
the pain of goodbye was not meant~
to last
~
cliff dwellers
~
deep and menacing
the sea meets the shore
slamming hard against the rocks
the water breaks
a cool mist of salty spray is carried on the wind
~
fledglings wait impatiently
for the return of dinner
they give chase across the sky
far and wide they fly
chasing the one who doesn't bring it
~
an old ship floats on the surface
drifts with the tide
inching closer to the rocks
the captain fights hard to pull her away
from the cliff
~
beneath the sea
the cliff goes on and on
at least a hundred feet...
where seals dive into the deep
unafraid they ride the swirling currents
~
day and night
the empty lighthouse
and ghosts of yesterday
watch
and wait...

Silence of Sound
~
High in the tops
of the Banyan trees
fledglings take flight on
silent wings

Flight lessons
through the canopy
from branch to branch
they fly a little clumsily

Rain falls gently
through the leaves
rustling in the
silent breeze
~
Tiny rain drops
ripple
like echo's
across the puddles...
~
Hear the solace
of silence...
never
completely silent
~

I hold your face close to mine
a piercing gaze through
blue eyes

I walk along side
running my fingers through
long white wings
~
sleek pearlescent feathers
glimmer in the
setting sun

I climb
fearless on the back of
this angel
this Pegasus

with the full moon
and starry sky
we take to flight
~
to Athens
and another place
in time
~

There's a lady in the park,
who makes her home on a bench
... beneath the trees.
Her life kept in an empty shopping cart
or maybe.....
it's just there keeping her company
~
lost is her faith in humanity
~
People passing by
divert their eyes
and quicken the pace of their steps
as if this fate
is some disease.
They have faith in their God
and pray
~
"may that never happen to me"
~
A crow draws near
he knows nothing of
faith or God
looking for a bit of food,
he knows she'll always share,
her only friend
she thinks he cares.
~
He just has no fear
~

In the misty morning
clever crows
wait...
~
The eyes of the hawk
watch for the slightest
movement on the plain
~
the crows caw
with joy
as the hawk takes to flight
~
unwittingly he captures
their
second breakfast...
