Seeking musicians and volunteers for benefit at Dan Electro's Guitar Bar
You may or may not be aware of the fact that Bob "Bobcat" Edward's (owner of Dan Electro's Guitar Bar) fell off a ladder while changing the Dan Electro's marquee... He sustained serious injuries that required a hospital stay and he is currently in an extensive rehabilitation program... Like so many of us in the music industry, Bob does not have hospitalization insurance and the bills are piling up... I am organizing a benefit weekend at Dan Electro's Guitar Bar to raise money to offset some of Bob's medical expenses... Bob Edwards has worked hard to support the local music scene in Houston and this is a good time for all of us, in the music industry, to show our appreciation for his contribution to local music... "The Bobcat Benefit" is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, April 11th and 12th, 2008... Any bands interested in performing or Any individuals interested in volunteering time to help with the organization of the benefit, please contact Chris Harkness… email: chris@mm55productions.com pho: 832-651-1861

For all of those interested, there is an open mic at Bojangles on Tuesday of each week. I've attended it twice, and it's a good set up, the hosts have an excellent PA, and Bojangles gives musicians a nice discount on their tab for performing. I've been to almost every open mic in and around Houston, and this is a nice, laid back venue that is actually drawing an audience.
So, take out your sticky pad and put a note on your guitar case to get to Bojangles on Nasa Rd. 1 and FM 146 on Tuesday next week.

The webmaster for the bar is there every Tuesday and takes pictures of the performers. He's been diligent about posting them on their site. These guys are taking good care of the open mic'ers.
This is completely a reference from one musician to the community. I don't work for 'em. It was just a good enough place, that I thought i'd take a second and tell everyone else.
