  • Bio

"Haberdasher emits a range of sounds related to a funky acoustic folk rock with hints of hip hop wrapped in a storytelling style that compels the investment of feeling and intellect from an audience. Derek Bernard's rhythmic delivery and powerful lead vocals bring you into their confidence by ways of an easy going grace and a heartfelt truth that says “Take it easy peeps; let’s not let things get out of control…too much.” His relatable stage presence combined with clever, in-depth lyrics and a delivery that could be called fun and heartbreakingly wry on a good day, and a little pissed on a bad day makes the dialogue of Haberdasher one to engage with. The grooving bass lines, slick guitar riffs and rhythms make for sometimes danceable, sometimes swayable, sometimes riveting tunes that leave you wanting just little bit more with a hint of cinnamon and an aftertaste of buttered brussel sprouts." ..

  • Influences

Dave and Mraz and Jack and the Dizz (Gillespe that is). Miles and the Trane and others along that vein. Sting and The Police, the creative force behind Billie Jean and Annie's well being. The Beatles and Lennon and Harrison, sometimes Paul (even Ringo for his easy going demeanor through it all). Jimi and Zep (not that it relates, but listen to Crash: Two Step). John DeRobertis (I love the Italian way to say it), Jones, her Laqui-stey, The Love Dimension, Snoop Dogg and Emenem, Chicago and Aerosmith, Mayer and stuff, Brett Dennen and the Decemberists, Rrraconteurs, Sublime. George Michael and Madonna, from another time to be sure, but masters in their own right, Nellie McKay (such classic delivery), Jethro Tull and Pink Floyd, The Doors for givin' out the what for's.
