Interests

  • General

Bellydance, crazy folks, circus people, trick ponies and performing monkeys of every creed, color, race, and nation. Corsets, old-school moxie, red lipstick,(MAC Russian Red!), false eyelashes and garter belts. Guinness on tap and martinis. Ireland, and Heath bar concretes from Andy's. Yum. My vices are few, but they are mine.
  • Music

I am eclectic. I like folk, Celtic, punk, even some hiphop. Dave Matthew's wife is a lucky biatch. Favorites? The White Stripes, Alison Krauss, Flogging Molly, and the Murphys, Within Temptation. Old school punk like the Pogues, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and The Ramones. U2 is probably my most favorite. I also like newer artists. If you know someone you like, shout out their name, always into that kind of discovery. Tori Amos is of course, my favorite gal. I also love swing and rockabilly to dance to. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Stray Cats, Brian Setzer. And of course, Arabic music to shimmy to...
  • Movies

Faves I can remember right now, Amadeus, Immortal Beloved, Impromptu (the dead composers genre), Edward Scissorhands, Becoming Jane, Troy, Tristan and Isolde, all the Baz Luhrmann red curtain extravaganzas.(specially Moulin Rouge), Chasing Amy, Dogma, Gladiator, Pirates trilogy, Old stuff like Gilda, Casablanca, Breakfast @ Tiffany's,HITCHCOCK!!!!The Portrait of a Lady, recently saw Conversations with Other Women. Helena Bonham Carter has not made a bad movie yet. The Others, the "1st" Ring. Dracula with Oldman and Winona. The Scarlet Letter
  • Television

I like Rome, Carnivale, and LA Ink, other than that, it is off. Oh, and TAPS aka Ghost Hunters. It is personal goal of mine to take a ghost tour in New Orleans. That city...wow. I just love the word "ennui"
  • Books

I am hot for a good read. Literature is like an aphrodisiac to me. If you have never cracked open a book you won't get to kiss me. Deal? Some of my faves:the Bronte sisters, Jane Austen, EA Poe, Isabel Allende, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Kahlil Gibran, Pablo Neruda, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Plath and Sexton. Tolstoy is great. Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series. I hate to say it, but she's gonna give Anne a run for her money...

About me:

It's been awhile since I updated, so here goes... 2009 is definitely a better year. I have a new house, great friends, a beautiful daughter who is my life, and just a whole new positive outlook. Life is truly what you make it, and we wake up each day full of new possibilities. That being said, I think it is important to live each day as if it could be your last. I am trying to do that. I love to travel, am a voracious culture vulture. In the past year, I have been to almost every major city in the US, with plans to travel more later this year. Each city had its own vibe, personality and quirks. My favorite has been, and will always be New Orleans. And yes, I mean post-Katrina New Orleans. It is a vibrant, bohemian city brimming with history and intrigue. I bought my dream house this year, an old Victorian downtown which I am slowly bringing back to its former glory. I have plenty of ideas, and am enjoying the process of being a steward of a historical home. It's what I've always wanted to do! I am a professional bellydancer as well, still teaching, and performing whenever I get the chance! There's nothing like the adrenaline rush from being on stage. It's the most addictive feeling I have ever had. I have started working on my first novel, and hope to be starting the publishing process within the next year. I've always wanted to be a writer, and it is a goal to accomplish this soon. If I could sum myself up in a few words, it would be quirky, eclectic, ambitious, fiercely independent, and passionate about those who are important to me, and the things that matter. And those things can't be bought or sold. I'm loving my thirties, and the amount of self-confidence and independence I have are only a result of all the years of hard work and lessons I have learned about myself and others. Experience is truly the best teacher...

Who I'd like to meet:

Bohemian freaks, artists, and people who dance. Famous folks I'd like to have known(most are DEAD!)Mae West, Gandhi, Mata Hari, Cary Grant, Rita Hayworth, Jane Austen, The Bronte sisters. Dracula, Heathcliff, Titus Pullo(fictional hot men), and other people that I can't think of right now. How the HELL did I forget Oscar Wilde?!! ..
