    High Five New York

Video documentation of a performance piece by my friend Nate Kassel who rode around on his bike slapping high-fives to people who were trying to hail taxi cabs in NYC. Enjoy!

REVIEW

Hailsham's first Arts Festival including a variety of events and exhibitions celebrating the Arts, was held from the 1st - 15th September 2007.
The Festival was opened by Mrs Caroline Mayhew the High Sheriff of East Sussex and Mr. Nick Ellwood the Mayor of Hailsham at St. Mary's Parish Church.
This was followed by a lunchtime concert with Gary Mariott (Tenor) accompanied by Duncan Reid on the piano. The church was bedecked with flowers by the Hailsham and District Flower Club. Countries from around the world were depicted in these imaginative and colourful displays.
Sunday 2nd saw the opening of the INTERNATIONAL ART EXHIBITION at Gallery North to music from classical guitarists Ken Lacy and Mark Smith. The Art Trail around the town started on the Monday 3rd. Exhibits included paintings, sculpture, patchwork quilting, a display of church banners, photography and pottery and last but not least, paintings by children from the White House and Hawks Farm primary schools.
The events held at Hailsham Farmers Market included dance and music by students from The Pestalozzi International Village, a scarecrow competition and the Old Faded Glory String Band, who play American mountain music.
Held at the Hailsham Pavilion the closing event was a scintillating display of Polish music, song and dance from KAROLINKA an exuberant group of young Polish dancers and singers, dressed in richly colourful costumes, performed to a packed house
There were dance and art workshops, poetry readings, and many other events which were staged throughout the two weeks and were well attended and appreciated.

....

Who I'd like to meet:

Anyone interested in the Arts.

People who have an idea for an event and want to be involved or just help out. Schools in the area. Artists, poets, musicians, writers, performers, photographers, sculptors - ANY form of art.

We have lots of events and gigs booked - check out the info on the blogs.
