BEHIND THE HAIRBALL: The Making of Hairball John

It's your typical rags to riches and back to rags again story. The first cassette tape I ever owned was Kiss' "Love Gun", bought for me as a bribe by some schmo dating my mom. That was 1977, and I was clearly on my way to a grand life of either pimping or headbanging. Subsequent grade-school years were spent playing full-court Nerf basketball, getting my friend's cat stoned ( P.E.T.A., I've changed! Please don't bomb my house), and listening to Kiss' "Alive II", Aerosmith's "Draw the Line", and Cheech & Chong's "Up in Smoke".

Then, near disaster occurred. In eighth grade we moved, leaving my Rock n' Roll friends behind. My new next-door neighbor was a hottie, and she listened to Cyndi Lauper, Wham!, and, yes, to Michael Jackson, too. What can I say? I was thirteen, weak, and horny- so away went AC/DC's "Back in Black" and into my life came "pop music". For years I wandered aimlessly, trapped in the bowels of pop music and thinking that synthesizers really sounded good. Then, Dave and Mark (life-long friends) conducted a heavy metal intervention and saved my scrawny, pop-addicted ass. They took a momentary break from mocking me for my taste in music and forced me to a Ratt concert. It was the "Out of the Cellar" tour. It was Fastway and Mama's Boys opening. It was life-changing. The San Jose Civic center teemed with big hair and short-skirts. The lights went down, the music cranked up, and with the first pyro explosion I knew I was back where I belonged. The next day, every pop music item I owned perished in a fiery blaze, courtesy of Ronson's lighter fluid. Baptism by fire!

Now, 20 years, 300 concerts, and 2000+ cds later, only death could intervene. Today, I feel more at home with 500 strangers at a Tesla show than I do at my own family reunions. I can remember the producers to all the Van Halen albums but can't remember my own mother's birthday. The news of the first sounds from my beautiful baby girl brings congratulatory e-mails from friends, but a scheduled phone interview with Dave Meniketti from Y&T brings two of them from California to Michigan to hear for themselves. Is this wrong? Probably. Still, knowing my mom's birth date never got me a radio show.

   About Hairball John

Show Information

The Hairball John Radio Show is a two-hour, web-syndicated feature, hosted by Hairball John and The Acid Chimp that spotlights past and present songs of artists from the Decade of Decadence. Each weeks show features interviews with the who's who in rock, and we frequently spotlight new artists as well. Each week, we reach over hundreds of thousands of listeners worldwide thanks to our internet affiliates. But don't let the name of the show fool you. The Hairball John Radio Show is NOT a "Hairband" tribute show. The name of the show comes directly from the nickname given to its creator and driving force, Hairball John. Long story; disturbing photos: don't ask.

"Hairball's" successful ingredients are pulled from all genres of metal from the 80's and early 90's. We feature everyone from Tesla to Iron Maiden, Poison to Anthrax, Skid Row to Armored Saint and every little and big band in between. One of the fun aspects is that you never know how deep into the bowels of Rock and Roll we will delve. On any given night you may hear XYZ, Rough Cutt, Babylon AD, Wildside, Tora Tora or Vicious Rumors.

The goals of The Hairball John Radio Show are to celebrate and re-invigorate the hard rock and heavy metal music which spanned the early 80's to the dawn of Grunge, music that is severely neglected on today's airwaves. An immense amount of great music arose from this era, including established bands like Scorpions, Van Halen, Judas Priest, and Dokken, as well as lesser know bands such as The Almighty, Cry Wolf, Killer Dwarfs, and Little Caesar. Along with favorite tracks from the past, we also feature new music and artist interviews. Many artists have new material that never reaches its prime audience. Both the music and the fans deserve a broadcast forum. As a result of strong relationships built with artists, labels, and management, The Hairball John Radio Show has become a premiere media outlet for the genre. We currently have over 100 interviews available for online streaming, featuring musical heavyweights like Rob Halford Ronnie James Dio, Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Dee Snider, and Neal Schon.

Visit the official website of The Hairball John Radio Show for numerous audio interviews with your favorite artists; hundreds of artist links and the almighty Hairball Nation Forum.

I just had to tell you about this, I remember when I was a child I always wanted a Watch Phone,
I used to watch to much Sci-Fi I guess, Well it appears you can now buy them, they are not that expensive, after shopping around I have found that this is the cheapest store online , the name says it all I guess. www.pricedrop-electricals.com
There are several styles of these phones,
prices start at $150 or £99. See all the other great gadgets they have in store all at unbeatable prices.
