Haiti Emergency Relief Organization [H.E.R.O]'s Interests
General
Except Cuba, Haiti is closer to the United States than any other Caribbean islands. Haiti is the first black independent country in this Hemisphere. Haitians have also helped the U. S fight in its war of independence from England in 1779. Haiti unfortunately is not known for its heroic acts. She has been known as “the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.” This fact plus silence translate into death. The statistics are too alarming:
____
More than 70 percent of the population do not have jobs
____
More than 50 percent is illiterate.
____
Haiti is the third hungriest nation in the world, behind Somalia and Afghanistan.
____
Dr. Paul Farmer indicated that “health conditions in Haiti are among the worst in the world.” HIV/AIDS kill 30,000 each year and orphans 200,000. It has also aggravated a severe tuberculosis epidemic.
____
There are only 1.2 doctors, 1.3 nurses and 0.4 dentists for every 10,000 Haitians.
_____
Every Hour – a Haitian child dies of starvation before reaching 5.
_____
The United Nations have recently designated as a “silent emergency.” As socially and morally responsible people, we are compelled to take action to help reduce the poverty and alleviate the crises in Haiti.
Pastor Nerelus and other Christian leaders have established a nonprofit “Haiti Emergency Relief Organization, H.E.R.O (www.haiti411.com).” Through HERO, they want to give hope to underprivileged Haitians and lead them to discover Jesus-Christ as their Savior.
“Time is running out if we are to help make sure that the Haitian poor do not die in the silence of history.” –Dr. Paul Farmer MD, The Uses of Haiti.

About me:
In times of crisis, the world needs men of clear vision and decisive action. The nation of Haiti has produced many leaders in the past, but Pastor Nerelus stands out as a champion. I have worked with him on several relief programs and vow that he is an outstanding example of a visionary and a provider of techniques necessary for self, community, and nation building. I highly recommend this book, "HAITI AND HAITIANS: FROM CHALLENGES TO TRIUMPH — THE 9-1-1 CALL!" to every Haitian and friends of freedom. This book will put all Haitians and other readers in a reflective mood and encourage them to take action to bring themselves and Haiti to their fullest potential.
