Hajazz débute la guitare à l’âge de neuf ans, et pratique la musique régulièrement en compagnie de ses parents (son père jouait du bâ-gasy, guitare acoustique traditionnelle et sa mère était une chanteuse) et de ses frères aînés. Les obligations professionnelles de son père amènent la famille à habiter successivement les différentes régions de Madagascar; c’est lors de ces pérégrinations successives que Hajazz et ses frères s’imprègnent des différentes musiques et cultures du pays.

En 1977 il a fondé son propre groupe SOLO MIRAL, avec lequel il continue encore aujourd’hui de travailler et en tant que guitariste et vocaliste il travaille aussi avec d’autres artistes comme Lalatiana, Poopy, Bodo, Mily Clément, Rija Ramanantoanina…

Le style de Hajazz est caractérisé par un profond attachement à la tradition malgache, et par la volonté de la prolonger en des formes qui ne soient pas figées; c’est ce qui l’a amené à jouer de la guitare sur un open hybride, dit « bâ-gasy kabôsy », du nom de deux styles et instruments venant respectivement des Hautes Terres Centrales et des Côtes de Madagascar.

Ce style original lui permet de jouer dans ces différents idiomes tout en gardant une perspective ouverte sur d’autres musiques.

Hajazz began to play the guitar at the age of nine. He regularly plays music together with his parents (his father was a ba-gasy player, a kind of traditional acoustic guitar and his mother was a singer) and his old brothers.

The professional obligations of his father brings the family to move successively in various regions of Madagascar; it is during these successive wanderings that Hajazz and his brothers become soaked with various musics and cultures of the country.

In 1977 he founded his own group called SOLOMIRAL, he still continues to perform with this group as a guitarist and also singer, he is also used to collaborating with another artists such as Lalatiana, Poopy, Bodo, Mily Clément, Rija Ramanantoanina, etc.

Hajazz’s style is characterized by a profound attachment to Malagasy traditional music, and also by his will to extend to another styles which are not typecasted ; That has led him to focus on playing guitar with a mixed open style called « ba-gasy kabôsy », this name respectively comes from the mixture of two instrumental styles that can be heard in the middle and Coasts of Madagascar.

This original style allows him to play with different dialects and at the same time looking for another perspectives for another musics.
