Movies, writing, movies, books, music, movies...hmm...I wonder if I left anything out...
Music
Talking Heads (greatest band EVER), They Might Be Giants, Elliott Smith, Neil Young, Warren Zevon, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Decemberists, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, The Traveling Wilburys, Michael Buble, Billy Joel, and the scores of Carter Burwell.
Movies
Hoo boy...lemme breeze through this one...
"Fargo," "Fight Club," "A Christmas Story," "The Sting," "Stop Making Sense," "Reservoir Dogs," "Memento," "The Goonies," "Moulin Rouge!", "Eddie Izzard: Dress to Kill," "The Spanish Prisoner," "Rocky," "Sin City," "Swingers," "The Empire Strikes Back," "Annie Hall," "Before Sunrise" and "Before Sunset"...just to name a few.
Television
I'm not much for TV, but I do like to watch "Mystery Science Theater 3000", "Unwrapped", "The Daily Show", "The Soup", "Best Week Ever", and a shitload of the standup stuff that Comedy Central airs.
Books
Mostly nonfiction, movie-oriented books, but I really dig Sharyn McCrumb's "Bimbos of the Death Sun" and "Zombies of the Gene Pool."
Just your average, everyday, 23-year-old dude who sees way too many movies than he should. I watch movies for both entertainment value and to analyze them, to look beyond the surface and look at a film's deeper themes. In other words, I'm a movie critic, and I love my job and the huge variety of films I seek out to watch. I'm a Journalism major and Film Studies minor at UW-River Falls, but my dream job would to be a film critic on a much larger scale than what I'm at now. I'm also a budding playwright and actor, so yeah, I'm pretty much guaranteed to never have a job. Ever. :-D
My weekly movietalk radio show, "The Mad Movie Man," is back on the air! Listen to co-host Ken Weigend and I wax cinematic every Monday afternoon at 5 P.M. (Central time) on: www.pureradio887.com
Who I'd like to meet: David Mamet and Roger Ebert. I want to be their homies.
Dustin and I went to The Wrestler the other night. Have you seen it yet? It was good but i didn't like how I spent the whole movie feeling sorry for him. If you saw it let me know what you thought.
Hey haven't talked to you in awhile. Have you seen the wrestler? I looked all over Mankato and it is nowhere to be found. So Dustin and I went to Friday the 13th on Saturday. It sucked balls. Surprise surprise!!!
Sorry you missed me. I probably should've given a specific time, but I was in the school library and was distracted by the bikini-clad librarian who was trying to flirt with me. Happens every damn time. You can give it a try right now. I don't exactly know when I'll be in this week... I've got the article thing and short film going full blast, so I'll be scarce. Try now, Hakari!
