We are Kalama, Colorado's finest polynesian entertainment company. Kalama means flame or torch. And much like the flame of the tiki torch, our dancers ignite and dance in the tropical wind, our hips keeping time to the drums, and our hands telling you a story of the islands long ago...
The members of Kalama are authentic polynesians who specialize in dance from the islands of Tahiti, Hawaii, Samoa, and New Zealand. Polynesian Party Planner and the Kalama Polynesian Dance Group was founded by Glenda (Aiwa) Bautista. Glenda is a professional polynesian dancer and instructor who has trained with many halaus (hula schools) across the country. She started dancing when she was very young, and danced professionally for more than 10 years at the world famous Mai- Kai Polynesian Restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. (visit www.maikai.com) which has been an established and well known landmark since 1956. She also has been training in the ilima style of dance as a child.
Glenda created "Polynesian Dance Aerobics" fusing Polynesian Dance and Fitness together.
