Since 1986 Hal has been a professor at Berklee College of Music. He as taught his own courses in jazz composition, arranging, improvisation and ensemble performance. Currently he teaches in the Performance Division at Berklee and has been a regular visiting artist in residence at the Thelonious Monk Institute in L.A.
With his band "Um" Hal continues to perform a steady weekly jazz gig every Tuesday night (from 10:00 pm) at club AS220 in Providence, RI since 1992. http://www.as220.org
