Next Of Kin (split 7" single) reviews
"halftime parade crank out a haphazard, upbeat, punky indie rocker. an utter blast of jawbreaker meets superchunk kind of stuff with great, ragged vocals."
andy malcolm, strictly no capital letters
"It projects contentment via melody, but breaks hearts vocally. Hacksaw instrumentation bouncing off dustbin drums captured at a bearable eminence, like the most recent Dillinger Four record, with the aesthetic value of the early 90’s pop punk bands that Jeff Ott and Aaron Cometbus were in and out of every other week. Righteous." Joe Callaghan, Collective Zine

We formed summer 05, all ex members of old bands. From Exeter, Devon, via the seaside. We wrote the first Halftime Parade album in 2006 and called it Minor Freaks And Other Side-show Attractions. We recorded our latest record in 2008 - The World After The Day Ended. A song from our new album, Next Of Kin, is available on 7" through Rok Lok records and s.n.c.l. (It's a different recording to the version on the album). Our first album is still available right here for £5 (+ £1 p&p), or at Solo Music and The Cavern Club in Exeter. We've played shows with Rainer Maria, Skip Tracer, Antelope, Seafood, Ill Ease, Enon, Fago Sepia, Silversun Pickups, The Jelas... We try to only play free, all ages DIY shows.
What else? Well, the band is done for the time being for practical reasons, Ben presently resides in Kenya and I've moved to London, to study. We're all still writing or playing music. Tom plays in Marshall Teller and Kids Return, Ben has a solo record out and has finished writing the follow up, steve's now a proud dad and I play in The City Is Ours For Taking and just finished recording my own new solo album. We all collectively endeavour to tell it like it is. No fucking nonsense.

SUCKINIM BAENAIM / ACHZAVOTH SPLIT 7" Two
crazy Israeli bands is the only way to describe this record. Suckinim
Baenaim play insane, fast experimental punk. The only why to describe
it is by saying it's similar to Rolo Tomassi, HORSE the band, Holy
Molar etc - but they sound nothing like those bands. Achzavoth on the
other hand... I've heard nothing like them before - fast, heavy, satan
loving, fun.
DING DONG DEAD 'NIE
WIEDER MORGEN' 10" When a band is named after an
Orchid song you know they have the right influences already. Nine
tracks of intense punk/..screamo/skramz - whatever you want to call it.
All the lyrics are in German but they come with English explanations
which is cool. This record is also out on Twin Toe Records, We Told You
to Play Fast, Emuzah Records and Chunky the Rat Records.

Coombeshead Studios are now looking to take on summer 2008 recording slots. If you are in a band and need a professional recording, we offer sessions at just £12.50 an hour on weekdays and £20 an hour on evenings (after 6pm) and weekends. All this paid time can be spent recording - mixing and editing can be done afterwards at no extra charge. If you wish to arrange a session, please message us and we will give you a list of available dates. Check out our top friends for examples of the recording quality, and the ’music’ section to see who we have worked with!
We also offer CD duplication at between 75p and £1.50 per CD for most requirements. This gets you a case, a print directly onto the CD face (no stickers!) and inlays. Contact us with your requirements for a quote. Recordings do not have to be made at Coombeshead to qualify for this offer - if you already have recordings let us know and we can provide duplication for you!
