Three specially designed rooms provide the performance and recording space at Half-ton Studios:
Room 1 is a large live space, acoustically designed to give the right blend of reverb and decay.
Room 2 is smaller ‘drier’ room which has lower reverb characteristics. Room 2 is therefore ideal for recording vocals and guitar cabinets.
The control room is the focal point of the studio with the centre piece being the 34-8-16 track Soundtrac MRX analogue mixer, which routes directly to a 24 channel MOTU ADC. Precision Adam A7/Mackie HR824 monitors and acoustic treatment within the room ensure that all recording and mixdown is accurate and transparent.
Half-ton Studio’s in-house engineers are experienced with a large variety of audio software packages, including Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live and Wavelab. As well as sequencer software, a variety of hardware outboard (API, Universal Audio, Drawmer, Lexicon etc) units and high-end DSP plug-ins (waves, oxford etc) are used to get the best out of each project. The studios also own a collection of industry standard microphones (AKG 414’s, Sennheiser 421’s, Earthworks HDMs, audio technica, beta57’s etc) which ensure that all recordings are captured with the natural clarity and quality.
Standard recording rates are £150 per day (weekend) and £120 per day (weekday).
