Combining Detroit attitude with Memphis soul, Halfway Down is taking the nations radio waves by storm. Relying on their debut album "Living With Lonely", filled with emotional lyrics and smooth melodies to make you want to sing along, the group has set out on yet another US tour for 2008.
The band was originally made up of three well established musicians- Kyle Cobalt (Half Past Saturn/Driving In Silence), Robbie Jeffries (Road musician for Three Doors Down), and Justin Moore (formerly of Stone Sour & Silvertide). However, while recording in Los Angeles at Post Logic Studios, the group became close with studio musician Kevin Henshaw. Henshaw was asked to join the band on the road and was featured on two songs on the release, and is now the newest member of the group.
Putting on an extremely energetic live show is a nightly tradition that wins fans over again and again. Mixing hilarious banter with impromtu medleys, the band members tend to surprise each other as much as they do fans.
"We've always just thrown other songs into our songs- we don't practice it or plan it, but it usually works. Musically it doesn't throw us off. But every once in a while we have bad judgement and it's all we can do to not laugh out loud. We were asked to play "Gin and Juice" one night and Kevin started singing that Kelis song "Milkshake". He'll never live it down!" Cobalt stated in an interview for Pick Magazine (February 2008).
Halfway Down has been quickly climbing the national charts and gaining popularity, but still relies largely on word of mouth for their promotions. "We believe if we work hard and put on a good show that we won't need any help getting our name out- it will happen on it's own," stated Moore. As of late, the band has been eagerly promoting The Race For Help, a non-profit program created by Cobalt to help raise awareness and money for childhood cancer research.
