If you know anything about good rock n' roll, you know geeks and music go to together like cat-eye glasses and nubile librarians. And appropriately enough you'll still find parts of halfwaynorth at the back of the stacks. Whether that's a stack of physics books or a stack of amplifiers, it depends on the evening and what's on tap.They may pop enough for the radio, but there's always enough of a cerebral twist to annoy Top-40 junkies and earn them comparisons with their influences, the likes of Travis, Wilco, and The Wallflowers.

Jason Abraham (guitars, vocals), Chris Darby (drums), Joe Shields (guitars), and Eugene Limb (bass) may have resumes torn from the urban-techie handbook, but that doesn't mean that they don't know how to muscle through a rock show. It just means they have the muscle measured before they smack you with it. When the four aren't busy playing music, they can be found catching laptops at the Chicago Board of Trade, tweaking frequencies at the House of Blues, or doing something no one else understands at IIT's Institute of Design.

Self taught and home-studio recorded, halfwaynorth takes the do-it-yourself mentality in music to terminal levels. And now that they've proved they have the brains, they're plugging in and working out the brawn.
