Influences
I spent high school ('63-'65) with a radio snaked through my clothing and under my hair into my ear. So I was influenced by every song on AM radio during that period! In college I hung out with the hippie musicians and sang much more than I went to class - and there were great parties where we just hung around (inhale, cough, inhale, cough) and listened to all the great groups of that period. I feel very lucky to have grown up when I did with all that terrific music! When we were 15/16 years old, my best friend Marlaina and I answered fan mail for Murray the K in NYC, and passed out flyers for the Brooklyn Fox shows, getting free passes to the shows. What a great time, hearing all the Motown acts live! One of the best concerts I went to was at the Singer Bowl in Queens, NY - Chambers Brothers opened, followed by Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. We saw the Rolling Stones at Carnegie Hall and the Beatles at Forest Hills Stadium (on the tour during their 1st time on Ed Sullivan). George was my favorite Beatle!

Hali is an award-winning singer-songwriter who plays guitar and electric bass. She has several CDs and will be recording a new one this summer. She performs with "The Hali Hammer Band" and sings and plays bass with the quartet "Jump-In", which does "folk and oldies - don't say it too fast!". She also plays occasionally with several other groups of musicians. There's usually a pot luck jam at her place in Berkeley once a month.
