ROB HALLIGAN: Best Thing Thats Happened

EP recorded in New York last year at Lamppost Studios, Long Island,
InfluencesMisic - Billy Bragg, John Mayer, Tracy Chapman, Glenn Kaiser, Jeff Buckley, Sting, Martin Luther, Ghandi, Jesus. I'm influenced by whatever I may be listening to at the time really. So you might get a touch of jazz, or classical or rock or reggea. I like to be fluid in this ....
..
Sounds Like A skylark, a sweet experience of blended melodies that cause sintilating moments of tranquility and rock your brains out all in one luvelly movement. Luverlly.... Oh... that's not what you meant then. Just a frustrated rocker that's dabbled with folk but never inhaled. It depends as well whether I'm acoustic or with my trusty (cheap) Ibanez guitar - or with my sax. People have said I sound like David Gray. Man I hate that! Then, when you have an acoustic guitar they reckon you MUST be folk. NO NO NO NO NOOOO! Dave Matthews, tho nobody in the UK has ever heard of him. i DO NOT sound like Nick Drake either (Thank billy-o) Streuth. It's playing isn't it. You can listen can't you. THen that's what I sound like. :)

..

Rob Halligan

Rob Halligan has a reputation for his passionate live performance and his maverick approach to life. Considered by many as ‘one of the finest unsigned performers on the scene’, Rob’s song writing looks at life from an alternative perspective, lifting the heart of the listener and stirring the gut in response to his words. You could find him at rock clubs, sharing the stage with punk or metal acts, or equally at home in folk clubs and sing-arounds.

In the late 1990’s Rob started playing the local pup circuit with his band, Goldsmiths, delivering their own brand of indie-pop-rock. Their CD, IknowYouknow released in October 1999 won some excellent reviews. The band played some noteworthy venues including the Sanctuary in Milton Keynes and the Coventry Colloseum.
Then, on September 11th 2001, Rob’s father was killed in the World Trade Centre. Rob’s life was to take a new direction and this would be evident in his writing. His songs challenge faith, politics and complacency and are delivered with a rough spiritually, brutally honest and tested to be true.
‘Dancing With Seagulls’ Rob’s first solo project, received praise from the folk and rock press. “An excellent album” raved CrossRhythms while the Phantom Tollbooth called it “…a pleasant and welcome musical treat!” Radio 2 presenter, Paul Gambaccini, commented, “These are some of the strongest songs I’ve heard for a while”. The album had airplay on BBC1 TV, BBC Radio 2, and a host of local radio stations.
Rob has now played at some of the finest acoustic venues and festivals in the UK including the MAC in Birmingham, The Norwich Arts Centre and The Lot in Edinburgh. He has twice headlined at the Godiva Festival, the largest free festival in the midlands and is playing the Greenbelt festival for the 2nd time in 2007. In the words of the CovFolk website, … “If Rob Halligan gets the recognition he so richly deserves, I advise to book him now, because I predict that very shortly, this extremely talented singer songwriter is going to become very 'big-time'!!” Chris Tobin – Covfolk
