Frontman Dan Lyman grew up in a home where the music he loved, he was not allowed to listen to. Sitting in his dark basement, late at night, he listened to the radio and recorded hours of broadcast to tape to dissect and examine the dynamics of the songs that moved him - hoping he would not be chastised or berated for his passion for music.
Halos officially embarked on its journey in 2006 when Dan landed in Orange County, CA, after his own nomadic touring where he spent months criss-crossing the U.S.A., calling his van his home, and living the life of a starving artist. He soon returned to the basement, this time with a trio of talented musicians that included bass player John Hoge and keyboardist Josh Huber.
The result was a melodic and addictive blend of modern indie rock infusions dotted with elements of the band’s influences, including the late greats, coupled with the more vivid and lyrical sound of new rock, and sprinkled with an occasional twang of country. In 2008, Halos brought in guitarist Zak Freedman and drummer Sotiris (Sam) Eliopoulos, and ever since, the five piece has been creating a plethora of original, infectious tunes with a hint of the stuff that will make you nostalgic for the songs you heard on the radio when you were a kid.
check out the music and tell us what you think. we're adding more instruments to everything right now and will have new tracks up soon. so keep listening.
I stand corrected, it was HELIUM! I confused it for some reason, wishing you did play Spectres. Its okay, still enjoyed every second. Maybe next time..
Oh, and one more thing. You're bassist reminded my girlfriend & I of the dude from Bubble Boy. We mean that in a totally positive way too. We dig that movie :)
To be completely honest, When my girlfriend and I first saw you guys get on stage at the glasshouse, We didn't expect to like you.
BUT. You guys were simply AWESOME. The music was so rad you guys. You made fans out of us, easily. I was up in the VERY front. So your frontman probably saw us. I was the tall dude, holding onto the cute average heighted blonde. Haha.
And just to throw this out there, I'm a bassist, And your guys' bassist is the shit. When he played that drum, I thought that was dope as hell.
Well, sorry for the long comment. I understand if you don't respond, musicians get busy. Please keep up the amazing work, And you'll keep making fans.
