Kieran was born June 4th, 1955 in Drogheda, in the Republic of Ireland, and was raised in small village with a population of around 150. Since the day he bought his first guitar (a £17 Spanish nylon strung), Kieran has been writing songs, and at the age of 18 left school and began busking in clubs. He was in a duo with Paul Ward (now Father Ward), and won The Letterkenney Song Festival in 1974. .... In 1975, there was a thriving folk scene in England. He began hitchhiking his way around the country, playing in many clubs and making bookings - he also did a lot of work in Germany and Holland, in a duo with fiddler Tom McConville. .... In 1982, the duo split up and Kieran moved back to Dublin. In those next six years her recorded an impressive six album. Sadly, he then had a four year break from recording, owing to an unfortunate disagreement with an English-based record company. It was a love/hate relationship - with the record company loving Kieran’s work and Kieran… ....
