Nothing focuses attention or makes your event as memorable as the skirl of the pipes provided by a skilled, kilted piper in formal highland dress.
Whether you are planning a casual beach wedding, a formal dinner/ceremony, or a solemn funeral with full military honors, I have the appropriate attire and can assist you in selecting music that will suit the occasion.
I am also a Bagpipe Teacher - I TEACH BAGPIPES, giving Bagpipe Lessons in the Annapolis, MD area. Please have a look at my bagpipe teaching website at: http://www.learningmusician.com/HalThePiper. In addition, I am proud to be an authorized Gibson Bagpipes Instructor/Supplier. Please contact me to purchase any items in the Gibson line, including Highland Pipes, Fireside Pipes, smallpipes, and, of course, practice chanters. Gibson pipes can be seen and heard at:

As I have said, I am HalThePiper and I can provide a special Celtic touch by playing my BAGPIPE at your special occasion - whether or not it is one of the following: Wedding Military Dining-In or Dining-Out Corporate Event , Product Launch, Fund Raiser Sports or Seasonal Event Anniversary, Birthday Party, Family Reunion Funeral or Memorial Service Three of the sample tracks on this site are my smallpipes - the other track features my Great Highland Pipes (sometimes called Warpipes) playing Scotland The Brave (Cadence to Arms if you are a Dropkick Murphys fan), Highland Cathedral, Wings and Minstrel Boy. You can hear get pricing information, and see my complete tune list at my Band Website (http://www.webspawner.com/users/halthepiper/) - or you can find a link listed under "HalThePiper: General Info" on this page. Can't be bothered copying and pasting into your browser? Just Google "HalThePiper" and a bunch of links to my websites will show up on the first page.
I play the Deger Electronic Bagpipe, which can be played in a variety of keys - this is the electronic bagpipe played by Gaelic Storm's piper, and other stage performers.
I live in Annapolis , Maryland, and play as a member and occasional soloist with The Chesapeake Caledonian Pipes and Drums.
As a solo performer, I have played for a Vice Admiral's retirement in the Navy Yard in Washington D.C., and at a number of Military Dining Out functions, in the Washington DC/Baltimore area. I have played for years in Oloughlin's Pub in Arnold, MD on St. Patrick's Day, and for Irish events. I have performed in Harry Brown’s (Annapolis), Stan & Joe’s (Annapolis), Middleton’s Tavern (Annapolis) , McGarvey’s (Annapolis), Griffin'a (Annapolis, Arnold), The Irish Channel (Crofton), Old Bowie Town Grille, Tir Na Nog (Baltimore), James Joyce (Baltimore), Killarney House (Davidsonville), and Lucy's (Baltimore). I'm often asked to play at Weddings, Funerals, and private Parties in the Annapolis, MD area. The Chesapeake Caledonian Pipes and Drums perform almost every other weekend - including the Celtic Weekend at The Renaissance Festival. The Chesapeake Caledonians alway perform at the Anne Arundel County Scottish Games at the AA County Fair Grounds in Oct. I also play with a group called "Traditional Irish Pub Song Club," (TIPSC). We perform at Killarney House in Davidsonville every third Tuesday of the month. I play the Great Pipes with TIPSC, in addition to a Deger Pipe, and I also am featured singing Minstrel Boy, accompanying myself on the Deger, in addition to singing a sea chanty called Roll Alabama Roll. The last few years, TIPSC entertained at The Maryland Irish Festival in November at Timonium. This year, when available, and for fun, I will be playing occasionally to support my friend Hurricane Kevin's Open Mic's at various local venues. Occasionally I play a set with Seamus Kennedy on a Tuesday night at Harry Brown’s (Annapolis). When Judith and I show up to see Off The Boat perform, James Gallagher calls me up to play a set or two. Those boys bring in such a wonderful crowd - they really enjoy the pipes. Off The Boat will be playing at The Irish Channel Pub in Crofton about once a month. I often play pipes with a local Annapolis band called the Wild Rovers in venues like Fado's, Castle Bay, RennFair, and Navy Football Tailgaters. I am also working together with several keyboard musicians to put together a number of sets of music with the pipes playing with piano, keyboard, and/or organ, which we will offer to Brides as another option for ceremony music. The music produced by these two instruments playing in concert can be stunningly beautiful, so this is a very exciting development! Oh, I almost forgot - Great News - some of my piping will be on Ceann's new Live Album - in the background, but there, while the boys banter! Ceann sent me the track, which was recently recorded at Ceann's Live Album performance at Murphy's in VA Beach, I have put it up here on my MySpace page for you to hear. Here is what Ceann said about me "Oh, and the guy playing bagpipes on the interlude? That's Hal the Piper, he's awesome. You should hire him" (http://cdbaby.com/cd/ceann4). You can check out Ceann at: http://www.ceannmusic.com. To see a video of HalThePiper at a Wedding at Chase Court in Baltimore in Oct08, click: HalThePiper Warms Up For A Weddng
