Rob has been part of various well loved punk/mod bands over the years. His stage performances are lively and unpredictable, often disappearing from stage to get things moving in the crowd and an entertaining show is always guaranteed. Hes a big fan of The Jam and the Stone Roses, but anything which inspires him to jump about like a frog on a trampoline will do.
Rhythm guitar: Steve
Having left music for a short period, Steve is now back with a vengeance and wont rest until his musical urges are fully satisfied. His influences include anything which raises a pulse, usually consisting of a thumping beat, a grinding guitar and abrasive vocals.
Lead Guitar: Greg
Greg has been playing the guitar since his early teens. As well as The Hampton Cobblers, he, Paul and Ollie are also members of a new trip-hop band called 'Free Control', which is due to start gigging in the next few months.
Drums: Paul
Paul began playing drums when he lost his temper trying to eat prawns at a Chinese restaurant and decided to use his chopsticks for something else. Since then hes been banging the drums and playing percussion with a variety of bands and solo artists, including 'Groove Armada', 'Plump DJs', 'Krafty Kuts' and current band 'Free Control'.
Bass: Ollie
Ollie has played in a number of bands including 'Lifer' and 'DreamBox'. He's a rather tall and a very passionate fan of anything that rocks.
Backing Singers (of sorts): The Oi Oi's
Obnoxious Chris, Tombola Tom and any other friends who brought beer to the studio.
Influences
Everyone and everything, including Robbie Williams being run over by a steamroller and Victoria Beckham being launched towards the sun.
Sounds Like
The Jam, Stone Roses, Anti Nowhere League, Sex Pistols, Chamberlain, Buzzcocks, Macc Lads, life and experiences, you name it, we like it...
A bunch of musical lads who occasionally take a break from other projects to write and record guitar based punk under the name of The Hampton Cobblers, simple as that.
All music is completely FREE to download, distribute, copy, burn, share etc. So, have a listen, and if you find the subject matter a tad offensive, then you can either continue listening and stop being so bloddy serious, or return to watching reality T.V, reading celebrity magazines and worrying about the mortgage.
Here's some info on our latest releases:
See You Next Christmas: Our stab at an alternative Christmas song. Forget the truly ridiculous religious and commercial aspects of Christmas and embrace it's true value: Christmas is about gluttony, drunkenness and enjoying the company of friends. So to illustrate this, the song attacks it's main figure-heads i.e. Santa (who is coloured red due to an old Coca Cola ad campaign), religion (has the whole world gone mad?), the queen (may organised religion save her money grabbing soul) and of course our beloved Cliff Richard (what a condescending wanker, how many housewives and under-privilaged children must he manipulate before he's satisfied!).
Thrupenny Bits: A song for old-style football fans.
Crackpot: Ever been involved in a drug-fuelled orgy by accident, then this song might bring back some long-forgotten memories :0)
Saltboy: Is the majority of art an accurate imitation of life or is it simply a load of codswallop?
Yes yes - thanks for the add - do i know you guys or was it a random add? I assumed i must know ya as you've only got 13 friends so it seems like a deliberate add...
