About me:
Handmade Detroit is a loose collective for anyone who loves hip handmade goods. We have a web site at www.handmadedetroit.com. Make sure to check it out!

Etsy: Your place to buy & sell all things handmade
handmadedetroit.etsy.com

+ We are open to anyone — be it maker or buyer. We strive to provide a forum for Detroit-area handmade artists and craftsters and promote events related to them. In doing so, we are building a community around the many talented and creative artists and crafty-types in our fair city.

+ On August 4, 2007, we presented the second Detroit Urban Craft Fair. The fair showcased 60-plus vendors for a day of community building and DIY selling. The official web site has lots of info on DUCF.
Who I'd like to meet:
Handmade sellers, makers and lovers. And the people who love them.

+ We are always looking for new collaborative projects and invitations to set up shop. Send us your ideas and offers!
+ Interested in joining up with Handmade Detroit? Bookmarking our blog is the best way to keep track of our events and happenings. Or check out this post on ways to get involved.

Handmade Detroit folks- we'd like you to join our market on July 15! I direct a nonprof called Growing Hope in Ypsilanti (next to Ann Arbor, in the east part of Washtenaw County, Michigan). We run an urban farmers market on Tuesdays from 2-7 pm. The market is super diverse in both vendors and customers-- it's a small market-- about 20 vendors this time of year-- and between 450-650 people come through every week. Customers are of all ages, races, and income levels.

We welcome art/craft vendors any time, and don't require a season-long commitment. Booth fees are just $7/day. On Tuesday, July 15, we're especially encouraging art/craft folks to come, and will be sending press releases saying folks will be there. We're calling this in part a Shadow Art Fair (www. shadowartfair. com) preview day-- but also encouraging etsy-ers and others to come out. I think that items with lower price points would be more likely to sell-- but you never know, and the exposure for your work may be great! You are also welcome to promote other upcoming art/craft fairs you're a part of.

We encourage people to share a booth if that's easier in time or logistics-- you bring your own tables, chairs, tent or umbrella if you want it. You can see pics of our market here: http://www. flickr. com/photos/growinghope/sets/72157600776345732/?page=4.

Let me know if you're interested! You can email me at amanda(at)growinghope(dot)net, and I can send you along our vendor app-- it's pretty easy....

Hope you'll come out! Our market is a lot of fun!

I live in Wixom and I was going to look into organizing a craft
show here.

I am half way between Detroit and Ann Arbor and I thought
I could pull in Etsy crafters and artists from both directions.

I
would like to hear from every one who may be interested and what month
would be good for you.

I am going to contact the local community
center for information if I get enough people that are interested.
