Hand'Solo Records opened its doors in 1996 with a compilation album featuring the best of the best in underground hip hop from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Artists appearing on Bassments of Badmen included: Buck 65, Sixtoo, Hip Club Groove, Jorun Bombay, Gordski (of the Goods), Classified, Tachichi (as Little T), Nathan the Alien and many, many more. This compilation set the foundation for Hand'Solo Records, which would follow with vinyl releases from Buck 65, Sixtoo & Moka Only, and Tachichi & Moves, as well as a compilation of sex raps entitled Cock Dynamiks and a follow up to Bassment of Badmen with volume 2 featuring underground artists from across Canada, the U.S. and even Japan.
Bassments of Badmen: Volume 2 marked a return to the scene for Hand'Solo Records after being absent for a few years while label head Doogie Howitzer took time off to concentrate on his internet show Silly Robots as well as participating in radio show Lord Nose What?! on CKLN 88.1fm in Toronto. BoBM:v2 was the foundation for the next stage of HandSolo Records, which has since seen a re-release of Cock Dynamiks, a CD and vinyl EP with Wordburglar, the new album from Epic entitled Aging Is What Friends Do Together, the Hokey Religions & Ancient Weapons mixtape, Lexington + Whatevski's Customer Appreciation Day (available as a free download and also as a limited edition hard copy with two additional tracks and uncensored artwork), and a free download from Touch entitled Dead Words.
