We have now revealed the artwork and title of our fifth album. It will be called Conspiracy Of Mass Extinction. The cover was once again made by David Faucher, who also made the cover of our previous CD Web Of Faith. Conspiracy Of Mass Extinction is due out this Fall. More details to come.
Sneak preview of the new CD!
I (band's webmaster) just had the immense privilege of hearing Hanker play their entire upcoming CD live in their rehearsal room this week! This fifth studio album is the first one with bassist Laurent Imbeau and drummer Sylvain Trembley. My first thought is that, having been a Hanker fan since their first album in 1994, I can certify that this will be a pure traditional Hanker release. The two new members have really integrated very well with the rest of the band. All the Hanker elements that we dig so much are there; great melodies, dual guitar harmonies, double kicks, Pascal's high screams, heavy riffs, excellent lead guitar breaks and some remarkable twists and turns. Some elements remind me of their first album In Our World. I am really pleased with what I heard; this is going to be a great, solid metal CD. There will be 12 tracks and the entire album will be one hour in length!

Hanker was formed in 1985 by Patrick Gravel, Pascal Cliche, Martin Jones and Jean-François Fillion. They performed in several places in the Quebec City area for about five years before the drummer, Luc Guay joined the band.
A first demo was recorded in 1991 and the album In Our World was released in 1994. Recorded at studio Séquence, it was Hanker's first professional studio recording experience.
Always playing in bars and different places, Hanker released in 1997 a second album called The Dead Ringer which is a concept album telling the stories pulled out from the diary of an old man who used to be ringing the church bells. They got a great response, especially from Germany, for both of their albums.
In November 1998, Denis Cossette has replaced Martin Jones on bass.
In 1999, they went to the famous Phase One studio in Toronto to record Snakes And Ladders. In November 2000, this album was released by Metal Disk Records.
They played for all these years in many bars, arenas and other venues, doing opening acts for bigger names such as Helloween, Gamma Ray, Edguy, Nightwish, Angra, Jag Panzer, Kataklysm, Martyr, Quo Vadis, Anvil, Lee Aaron, Big House, Slik Toxik and Soothsayer. Hanker has played more than 200 times since its formation.
Hanker also played in Europe (in Germany) for the very first time at the Headbangers Open Air festival, as one of the headliners on July 9, 2004 and at the Headbangers Ballroom on July 11, 2004.
In 2004, they record their fourth album Web Of Faith with Jean-François Dagenais (Kataklysm) as producer under the metal record label Skyscraper Music.
In 2005, Hanker made 2 major line-up changes: Laurent Imbeau on bass has replaced Denis Cossette while Sylvain Trembley on drums has replaced Luc Guay.

J'ai (webmestre du groupe) eu l'immense privilège d'entendre Hanker jouer live leur nouveau CD en entier à leur local de pratique cette semaine! Ce cinquième album studio est le premier avec le bassiste Laurent Imbeau et le batteur Sylvain Trembley. Ma première impression est que, étant un fan de Hanker depuis leur premier album en 1994, je peux certifier que ça sera du Hanker pur et traditionnel. Les deux nouveaux membres sont vraiment bien intégrés dans la chimie du groupe. Tous les éléments d'Hanker que nous adorons sont bien là; fantastiques mélodies, harmonies de guitare, double bass drum, hauts cris de Pascal, des riffs heavy, excellents solo de guitares et d'intéressants revirements. Des éléments me rappellent leur premier album In Our World. Je suis vraiment satisfait de ce que j'ai entendu; ce sera assurément un fantastique et solide CD de métal. Il y aura 12 chansons et l'album durera une heure!

Hanker a lancé son premier démo par la suite en 1991 et quelques compositions et un peu d'expérience plus tard, leur premier disque, In Our World, est lancé en 1994. Celui-ci est enregistré au studio Séquence, une place de choix pour les musiciens de Québec, constituant la première vraie expérience professionnelle d'enregistrement pour le groupe.
Tout en continuant ses spectacles, Hanker lance un album concept, le second du groupe, intitulé The Dead Ringer, en 1997. C'est l'histoire d'un sonneur de cloches duquel sont racontées quelques parcelles de sa vie recueillies dans son livre de chevet qu'il a égaré. Les deux albums reçoivent une bonne réponse du public international, mais surtout du public Allemand, très friand du style mélodieux et très «Power Metal» de la musique de Hanker.
En novembre 1998, Denis Cossette a remplacé Martin Jones à la basse.
