• BIOGRAPHY • Hannah Drollinger is a seventh-generation traditional folk fiddler and classically-trained violinist. Her musical career began at the age of 12, when she was invited to perform at the Smithsonian Institute’s, 'Festival of American Folklife'. Since then, she has also appeared on the National Public Radio program, ‘From the Top’, featured as a young, versatile string player comfortable in a variety of musical genres. As a graduate of the Preucil School of Music, Ms. Drollinger has performed with the Cedar Rapids Symphony, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony, the Dubuque Symphony & the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestras. Most recently, she played the role of gospel singer, "Denise Sanders", in the musical, 'Smoke on the Mountain', with the Iowa Theatre Artists Company. She also appeared as a country-western swing fiddler in 'Honky Tonk Angels', at The Old Creamery Theatre in the Amana Colonies. Her folk-style musings can be heard on the recording, ‘Rose in the Morning’, (1996) alongside her father and fellow musician, Guy Drollinger. With ease, grace and a natural talent for melody, Ms. Drollinger creates arrangements of traditional American and proper Irish tunes for single fiddler. Currently, Ms. Drollinger resides in her hometown of Iowa City, Iowa. Depending on the weather, she can be seen from a distance, melding performance art with a street musician’s personality; and heard up close, gifting small trinkets of notes to young and old listeners alike.

PRAYER FROM A LONELY CHILD k (banks)dallesandro sorta music BMI
I can't recall it being easy Living on your own Nobody to protect you No one to call your own And all I find that age brings Is weariness and pain Finding what you had before Will never be the same
Dreams are the invaders The shoot straight to the soul Until you try to reach for one And like a man they go Life will be the death of me I find it rough and hard Me the unlucky poker player Waiting for that winning card
Then I found a gentle stranger Drifting through the sea I'd been waiting for so long Waiting for his company I threw away the pain and I pushed aside my pride I had waited for so long For someone by my side
// This is a prayer from a lonely child Lost in a world that is so big and wild You were the cool breeze of the evening The warmth of every summer day Let me hold you tight one last time Then I'll watch you fly away
I suppose I'm alittle selfish That's what people say I only wish that I could somehow Make you say you'd stay Your head is in the city And your heart is way back home So hold me tight one last time Then leave me all alone
That's why I don't recall it being easy Living on your own
Thanks for the add. God bless. I produced a TV program with Guy Drollenger and Dan Keeley at the "Old Armory" studios at the University of Iowa. Great talent!
It was the oddest, most circuitous route, finding you - and I added other Iowans too, if you can believe it...I don't remember how I got here but I tell you, finding your music has made my day. Really beautiful playing, I mean just damned gorgeous (especially the Bartok - my God, you tore my heart up!).
St. John's College? No, never heard of it, but then, I'm a transplanted L.A. resident, only been here a year. And you say you dream of this place? As in, it's a dream of yours to attend/visit, or you've dreamt of it more mystically? Inquiring minds, you know...
