Hanna LoPatin's Comedian Bio
|
| Bio | Hanna grew up a happy child in suburban Detroit, Michigan. She graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of Michigan and can interpret the hell out of any book. At U of M, Hanna participated in the New England Literature Program
where she climbed mountains, read Thoreau and Emerson, pierced her eyebrow, and discovered her song-writing skills.
As Hanna toured Ann Arbor’s coffee shops, she realized that though people loved her musical diatribes against ex-boyfriends, they preferred to hear funny songs about Britney Spears. And so, Hanna enrolled in a writing class at Detroit’s Second City and discovered her love of comedy. Since moving to Chicago in 2003, Hanna has completed training at the Second Conservatory, Second City Writing Program, I.O. (formerly Improv Olympic), and the Annoyance Theater.
Hanna has performed in many sketch and improv shows around the country. Her one-woman show “The Sound of One Hanna Clapping” had a successful six-week run at The Apollo Studio Theater in 2008. The show was named Critic’s Choice by the Chicago Reader. The Bastion, an internet comedy website said, “LoPatin is an absolutely charming performer and by the end of the show you hope she gets a development deal.”
The show was accepted into the 2008 New York Fringe Festival. Ana Gasteyer, of Saturday Night Live and Broadway, directed the production which was then taken to Los Angeles and performed for two nights at The Comedy Central Showcase at The Hudson and I.O. West.
