HANVIAJASOLO: an intimate journey through the world and through photography.

I am a Spanish photographer living in Istanbul. I use photography as an artistic expression to the development of conceptual projects.

Starting from one specific reality -a micro-reality, I develop a documental work where a personal narrative characterized by a nostalgic, melancholic and isolated feeling in an urban context can be generated. My field of interests revolves around architecture-related elements such as unfinished buildings, historical buildings and
deserted buildings; but also public spaces, especially non places (see the blog about non places), playgrounds, hotels and transit spaces; and finally, any mark like graffiti's, posters, inscriptions, symbols and footprints. Information
regarding who lives or used to live there can be traced back in all these places, and consequently, one can raise questions about the various lifestyles in a global world.

I understand photography as a laboratory where any idea can be closery observed, analyzed and developed, and where concepts come out of images. Photography is a space where the image itself is under question, for it shows just what we want to see, as lies are its main character. In a world stuffed with images, media scenery now turns images into symbols, and distorts people's conscience by broadcasting certain images, always under the cover of the euphemism on information.

Influences in my artistic project go from Gabriele Basilico's photographic work and the Düsseldorf School of Photography to Yves Klein's paintings and Robert Morris sculptures and installations.
