Information is not knowledge. Knowledge is not wisdom. Wisdom is not truth. Truth is not beauty. Beauty is not love. Love is not music. MUSIC IS THE BEST." - Frank Zappa

Under Bands & Musicians, there are lists of who I deem the best 50 musicians on numerous instruments. If you want to hear all the best musicians you somehow never heard of, that's a good place to start!
I am without any doubt whatsoever a music junkie! I don't want nor need any 12 step program to get me to kick my habit either! In the last 28 years, I've seen about 1,300 bands in over 2,400 shows at 320 different venues. I'm into classic, psychedelic & Southern rock, jazz, acid jazz, funk, blues, bluegrass, world beat, Afrobeat, zydeco, Cajun, Americana, Latin, rockabilly, ska, fusion, some reggae, & UPBEAT live jamtronica (although downbeat ambient stuff just bores me). I rather seriously loathe rap, hip hop, country & techno.
Go to these festivals: Las Tortugas, Bobolink, the High Sierra & Hardly Strictly Bluegrass!!!
Along with many more bands & musicians who are my Friends & are on my web site, these are the bands & musicians I like, & I've seen most of them:

Carl Sagan, just for saying this: "We succeeded in taking that picture [of Earth from 4 BILLION miles away], and, if you look at it, you see a dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever lived, lived out their lives. The aggregate of all our joys and sufferings, thousands of confident religions, ideologies and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilizations, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every hopeful child, every mother and father, every inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every superstar, every supreme leader, every saint and sinner in the history of our species, lived there on a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam.
The earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and in triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of the dot on scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner of the dot. How frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity -- in all this vastness -- there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. It is up to us. It's been said that astronomy is a humbling, and I might add, a character-building experience. To my mind, there is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly and compassionately with one another and to preserve and cherish that pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known."
I've taken tens of thousands of photos of bands (including Panic, moe., Galactic, Particle, Umphrey's, Tea Leaf Green, New Monsoon, KDTU, Yonder, Hot Buttered Rum, Blue Turtle Seduction, Grisman, Sam Bush, N. Miss. Allstars, MOFRO, Gov't Mule, Ween,
I'm extraordinarily passionate about everything & everyone I love. Mostly, I'm rather seriously into: going to 145 concerts a year (please see my music section), MY WEB SITE (WWW.MUSICPHOTOGRAPHICS.COM), watching films, taking numerous photos, creating graphic art, hiking & hot springs. I'm friendly, liberal, caring, considerate, bright, open, honest, down to earth & fairly witty. Key to happiness: get over it & LOTS OF MUSIC!
