Harambee sponsors a child through Plan! Her name is Leydi and she is 4 years old. She lives in Ecuador. Harambee chose to sponsor a child from Ecuador because one of our favourite songs, La Lluvia, arranged by Stephen Hatfield, is based on an Ecuadorian panpipe melody. "La Lluvia" means "the rain" in Spanish.

Harambee is an 20-voice youth choir based in Canterbury, Melbourne, whose name means in the spirit of togetherness in Swahili.
The choir was formed in 2002 by a group of friends studying music teaching together at the University of Melbourne, but has since grown in numbers each year.
Under the musical direction of Sarah Patterson, Harambee prepares two major concerts each year, and also enjoys performing in festivals and eisteddfods. For three years running, 2004 - 2006, Harambee was awarded 1st place in the Boroondara Eisteddfod A Cappella Choral section. They have also performed for sell-out audiences at their concerts at the Kingston Arts Centre and Box Hill Community Arts Centre.
Harambee's repertoire is mainly a cappella, and includes vocal jazz, African music, Australian music and pop arrangements.
In 2006, Harambee progressed to the State Finals of ABC Classic FM's Choir of the Year Competition, which was broadcast live on national radio and the internet. Most recently, Harambee appeared on channel 7's "Battle of the Choirs" and placed 3rd in the competition overall.
