HaRdeN: A Concise History*****************
Forget what you think you know. HaRdeN are one of the US music scene’s best kept secrets; purveyors of soulful, powerful, and often deeply-moving music, who’s blistering live shows leave their audiences breathless. When Vic, HaRdeN's original bass player, left the band in 2006 he was replaced by the charismatic David (the Lip) Franklin. A former member of The Kill and some-time collaborator with Tragic Magic and Ozzy Osbourne, David brought a new heart and energy to the band.
Predictions of doom were swiftly dispelled. David – along with existing members Tom Stone (Vocals, Guitar), Joel Malick (Lead Guitar, now retired), Brian Popham (drums) – reinvigorated and constantly redefined HaRdeN's sound. They forged into new musical territories with a succession of inventive, emotional songs, displaying little regard to the vagaries of The Musical Fashion Police, or the bandwagoneering of radio playlists.
After the release of 2007's StonesThrow CD, the band shocked the spectre of local clubs with some of the most amazing performances ever seen and freeing themselves up to produce some of the finest music of their career.
Thanks to their pioneering embrace of the Internet, HaRdeN have developed a unique and intimate relationship with their fans. HaRdeN's global fan-base is unique in its affection and dedication. As a result, such passionate, wholesale support has allowed HaRdeN to step find their own path.
In the face of ignorance and apathy, HaRdeN continue to defy preconceptions and labelling. The band has evolved into a vibrant, musical force, sharing more in common with the likes of Foo Fighters and Seether, and the timeless majesty of Pearl Jam and Nirvana.
To those who already love HaRdeN, they’re something special. To everyone else they’re a love affair waiting to happen.
