Influences
The band has a number of influences including; Tony Rice, Jerry Douglas, Alison Krauss and Union Station, Lonesome River Band, Cadillac Sky, Third Tyme Out, Blue Highway, Mountain Heart, Hard Rain, The Mashville Brigade, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, The Dan Tyminski Band, Grasstowne, and many, many, more!
It's not very often when two women front a bluegrass band, but that is the core and the essence of what is HardLine Drive. For only being together for 3 years, Toni and Danielle's harmonies and lead vocals have become the driving force behind HLD's material. With the release of their first CD, "Gonna Be Alright" in the fall of 2008 it has become very apparent that there writing and arranging skills are second to none. With only 3 original members remaining, the combination of Toni, Danielle, and Greg has been nothing short of a musical powerhouse that defines this bands personality and direction. With the addition of Katie, (bass) and Wes, (banjo) in the fall of 2009, HardLine Drive is stronger than ever. Don't be shy, sit and have a listen!
"Hardline Drive is the complete package; great songs, inspired musicians and wonderful singers. These elements magically come together in a not to be missed performance. One of Michigan's best kept secrets will soon be the Bluegrass world's favorite new band."
-Bill Keith, Trinity House Theatre
"Lake Orion, Michigan’s Hardline Drive is putting a whole new twist on bluegrass music in the Midwest, with their own unique mix of traditional and contemporary sounds. The high-powered two-part female harmonies of songwriter Toni Erskine and mandolinist Danielle Smith are addictive..."
