  • Filmler

Comedies (love the '50's films by the Goons, these being "Down Among The Z Men, and "The Case Of The Mukkinese Battlehorn"), some biopics,("Ray", "Walk The Line" mind you,"Great Balls Of Fire" arouses my ire) music documentaries ("Let The Good Times Roll", "Hail Hail Hail Rock'n'Roll")
  • Televizyon

Vintage programmes from the '50's/'60's, Monty Python & Spike Milligan's "Q" series from the '70's. Apart from BBC 4, "Later With Jools Holland" & any roots music programmes I'm not interested in modern television at all. Mind you, the Rural TV channel, on Sky satellite TV, are showing some excellent vintage country music shows at the moment.
  • Kitaplar

Musical biographies/autographies. My favourite author is Peter Guralnick, whose two biographies on Elvis Presley, "Last Train To Memphis" and "Careless Love", and biography on Sam Cooke, "Dream Boogie", are nothing less than essential reading. Also the work by Bill Millar, Cliff White and John Broven has been very influencial and inspirational.

Hakkımda:

Hi there and a warm welcome to the Hardrock Bunter Music Site! Hardrock Bunter is a nom-de-plume I use for writing reviews and general articles about roots music, and I've been doing this for the offbeat magazine "Tales From The Woods" since July 2001, and for John Howard's "UK Rock" magazine since October 2005. With the former I generally contribute show and CD reviews of a rock'n'roll/R&B/blues nature, and a monthly account of R&R/R&B shows I've witnessed in London, and occasionally Essex, for the latter. Incidentally, many thanks to those who have said nice things about my articles in the past, appreciate it! Brian Clark (my real name folks!)was born in Manor Park, East London, on July 15,1958. I am an avid CD collector, and have played drums for about 30 years on and off. In recent times, as drummer with the "Tales From The Woods" houseband, I've been fortunate enough to have backed not only Danny Rivers, Russ Sainty, Buddy Brittain, Dave Sampson, Wee Willie Harris, and Terry Dene, six of the all-time great legends of UK Rock'n'Roll, but I'm especially proud of the fact that I accompanied Ram recording artist Margaret Lewis on her first appearance on a UK stage (100 Club, January 2008)I also sat in with James Hunter's trio for a few songs at Ken Major's 60th birthday party in a London pub in 2004, which was great fun. Anything else? Oh yes, I sat in with Linda Gail Lewis on a couple of songs at the Paddocks in Canvey Island a year or two ago, then the drummer came back on! :) Lately, I've been sitting in with the delightful New Orleans-born, London-based singer Corliss Randall on a fairly regular basis, have worked a few immensely enjoyable gigs with Steve Hooker, & in October '08 I had the pleasure of playing behind Mary Jean Lewis (Linda Gail's daughter)at a Tales From The Woods-sponsored gig in Ladbroke Grove. Anyway, with this site I intend to offer thoughts & opinions, & reviews of shows past & present, which encompass all the genres that make up what is generally known as roots music. I'll also try and build up a photo section, as I have many from gigs I've attended over the past fifteen years or so, and I'd like to share some of the best with you ; some were taken by yours truly, others by pals, photos will be credited where known. Hopefully some vids too! Hope you like 'em! Comments, be they tumultuous praise or constructive criticism, are always welcome. Enjoy! Brian/Hardrock. ..

Kimle tanışmak isterim:

Any nice people who love and champion roots music as I do, Jerry Lee Lewis, in order to say thanks for enlightening my life with your wonderful music, and for proving there are far more exciting pianists than Mrs. Mills, & Nick Nicholls, who was Lonnie Donegan's drummer between 1956-59 & who has been an influence on my drumming style, if indeed you can call it that.
